How to use "Dim to X%" with IR commands through programs?

Featured Replies

I was wondering if anyone has found a slick way to use "Dim" for IR commands...specifically for TV volume controls? And/or toggling up channels directly or using my provider's (Dish) channel guide?

I don't have IR but your options seem limited to placing the action in a program and use the Connected Home protocol for a program i.e., Alexa, <program name,> <On | runs Then><Off | runs Else>

The trick might be naming the programs so they're easy to remember and don't conflict with commands.  Also, it might help others make suggestions if you specify the IR controller used.

If you're developing resources you could check the forum Network Resources or Infrared or tips.

Thanks Jon. I don't have IR yet either, but my Global Cache wifi2ir should be coming tomorrow and I was just looking for a head start on certain things. I've book marked a few threads in the IR section.

I suppose I can write programs for various volume settings although the speech maybe a bit awkward.

I'm doing this IR project to keep my mind off the effects of the Lyme disease I have. I can get absorbed for hours doing something on the computer without noticing time go by.

Again, thanks for the advice though.

I've sent you a PM (look at your account) but anyway... your resource will be developed specifically for the device your controlling, TV, Dish etc... You might look into global cache's iLearn software and also their online database but to fully develop you'll need the wifi2ir setup so you can communicate with it.

Here's another resource that might help with Dish IR code...
