Replacing PLM Issue with Remote Thermostat

As everyone knows plm's last about 1-3 years and I just replaced mine with an older version that I had laying around.  Didn't go real smooth and seems I've had little glitches ever since.  One think I can't get going again is the my wireless remote thermostat.  At first it needed to write updates to it and would never work.  I pressed the set button till it beeped and then told it to write updates, it seemed to have worked but it's not getting the temperature from it.  I get state, humidity but it not working 100% and seems my ezflora is now not comunicating with my system even though it's plugged into the socket right next to my plm.  So I guess this is a two part question.

 

1.  How do reconnect the wireless remote thermostat after changing plm

 

2.  What's the proper procedure when replacing a failed PLM, I see that the wireless devices need special attention afterwards but why me ezflora?  Can it be because PLM is prob 5 years old? I did buy a new PLM since but just haven't installed yet

The EZFlora does not send Zone state messages so not sure what EZFlora issue is occurring.

What is the hardware level of "new" PLM, on White sticker?

Thanks, I'll check on that tonight.  Weird because it looks like the ezflora is working but has exclamation points next to it.

what would I do if I didn't unplug the isy before replacing PLM.  I remember cycling the power after but I'm not sure if I turned it off before replacing.

That would be a problem.  The ISY and old PLM must be powered Off.  The new PLM powered On and allowed to cycle up.  Then power up the ISY.   When the ISY and Admin Console are up issue the Restore Modem (PLM).  The ISY understands the PLM was changed and updates all devices with new PLM address.  If the ISY was not powered down then it is not looking for a PLM change.

 

 

The Red ! indicates the ISY has a problem sending something to the EZFlora.  Run Tools | Diagnostics | Event Viewer at LEVEL 3 to see problem.  If the EZFlora is an I2CS device and was not updated with new PLM address that would be a problem.   Do a Restore Device to EZFlora to see if that resolves Red !.

yeah restore didn't do anything.  I wish I remember what I did when I replaced the plm but I was going out of town next day for 5 days and was in a hurry to get my pool running so I just threw old plm in but I do remember googling how to replace plm but I guess I overlooked the power thing.

Be sure to use the EZFlora primary (Zone 1).   With the event viewer at LEVEL 3, Query zone 1 then Restore Device.  Post the event trace.

Thanks.  Device 1C.4F.CD failed to respond the three attempts the ISY sent to device.  Is it possible it is unplugged or the power to the socket has been turned Off?

that was my first thought yesterday and I unplugged it and plugged back in and I thought the led was lit.  I will check tonight

If the EZFlora is around two years old and built on the base 2413 Dual Band PLM Main Board with their custom daughter board. It could be suffering from the known power supply issues.

it's old and I've had it off all winter so I don't know if/when it went out.  It's the first time I've seen it in admin but I rarely log into my unit.  I'll check it tonight thanks

so i removed remote thermostat from my system and tried to add it back and now get "cannot determine insteon engine" when I try to link it. so frustrating.

Hi barkster,

 

That error comes up when the PLM cannot communicate with the device. My suggestions:

1. Move the PLM to an outlet that's not shared with other power supplies and transformers

2. Factory reset your thermostat and retry BUT use Link Management | Start Linking
