Rick Hansen
I have several old "Smarthome "ApplianceLinc" catalog number #2456S3 devices to remote control appliances on/off. How do I add this to my ISY? I went to link it like any other Insteon device, but when I go to hold down the Set button, the ISY never picks it up. The device address tag is 1E.F3.7F, is there a way to add it "manually". It is version 4.8. I'm not even seeing this model for sale anymore on Smarthome, will the ISY work with it? Thanks Link to comment
Rick Hansen
I got it to detect but now getting the error: "Cannot determine device link table address" and it cannot add the device. Is the ApplianceLinc 2456S3 simply too old to be supported? Link to comment

Is the ApplianceLinc 2456S3 simply too old to be supported? No, I have it installed and works fine. Move the ApplianceLinc to the same outlet or same circuit as the PLM. Open Event Viewer to level 3, attempt link and if unsuccessful copy to clipboard (clipboard looking icon lower toolbar) trace, paste into message and post. Jon... Link to comment
Rick Hansen
Thanks, that worked, I used the same outlet as the PLM and actually this is going to be used near there anyway. I was just pre-programming it in my office. So it should be ok till I get a signal bridge on the house. Link to comment
jerlands
Yes, the initial failure indicates your electrical legs aren't properly bridged and either a phase coupler or a couple range extenders (which I prefer due to dual-band) will solve that. Jon... Link to comment
larryllix
With an ISY I have never needed to press any link buttons, except for battery devices, to link them to ISY. Those instructions are for linking without an ISY as provided by SmartHome. Just supply the Insteon three byte address. Link to comment
Brian H
Though the Start Linking choice in the Link Management Tab, can be used. I found the Add New Insteon Device choice to work better. Using the Auto Discover method. Inputting the modules six digit ID and giving it a useful name. Worked better. Link to comment
