oskarw Posted April 2, 2016 Posted April 2, 2016 As many others have noticed the Multisensor 6 temperature sensors start reporting in Celsius and soon after change to Fahrenheit. Based on the info available on the web it was a belief that US version is in F and AU/EU version is in C. That is the default case but as many of you know Canada is using the metric system for units of measurement and so we expect the Celsius to be the temperature unit. I've submitted a ticket with Aeotec Technical Support and today have received a following response: Unfortunately there is no setting on the Multisensor 6 itself, the temperature setting must be set via the gateway of your Multisensor 6, but at the moment, there is no method to do so yet in the ISY994i ZW to my knowledge, I will try to work with the developers further as I have done before. Hopefully in a later update we will be able to solve this. Cheers, Chris Cheng Field Application Engineer Aeon Labs This tells me that the temperature unit selection is possible via command set and I would like to request UDI to work with Chris at Aeon Labs and incorporate that option into the ISY. Oskar
Michel Kohanim Posted April 3, 2016 Posted April 3, 2016 Hi Oskar, Chris contacted us and we'll be sending them a Z-Wave packet from ISY this week. With kind regards, Michel
DavidV Posted June 11, 2016 Posted June 11, 2016 Hi, Is there an update on this subject? I have a multisensor 6 and for some reason it has started reporting temps in Celsius (was Fahrenheit). Thanks, David
Michel Kohanim Posted June 13, 2016 Posted June 13, 2016 Hi David, Yes, it should be fixed in 5.0.5 (our next alpha firmware release). With kind regards, Michel
oskarw Posted August 14, 2016 Author Posted August 14, 2016 Michel, I've updated the firmware version to 1.07 (https://aeotec.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/6000036562-multisensor-6-firmware-update-6-17-2016-) and have noticed that Aeon has documented new parameters for that firmware version. One of them is for the temperature units. 64 (0x40) Set the default unit of the automatic temperature report in parameter 101- 103. 1 = Celsius. 2 = Fahrenheit. I have changed the parameter 64 to 1 (it was on 2) and now I can see in ISY the temperature being reported in Celsius. I am running ISY on v4.5.1. The Engineering Specs can be found at https://aeotec.freshdesk.com/helpdesk/attachments/6028954764 I didn't have a chance to go through the rest of the doc to see what other changes are new to 1.07. Oskar
Michel Kohanim Posted August 15, 2016 Posted August 15, 2016 Thanks Oskar, We'll take a look. With kind regards, Michel

Oskar Hi, I just purchased one and it defaults to Celsius. I have another and it reports in Fahrenheit. I would like both to be in the same units. I will try Parameter 64. Also, are the firmware upgrade instructions the same in your link for the ISY? Any special requirements or how to's? How does one find the firmware version of the device? Thanks PhanTomiZ

Thanks PhanTomiZ Hi PhanTomiZ, Using parameter 64 should work fine to get the desired units. Unfortunately, you cannot currently upgrade the firmware in your Z-Wave devices through the ISY, you will have to use some other method such as attaching it to your PC https://aeotec.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/6000036562-multisensor-6-firmware-update-6-17-2016-
Michel Kohanim Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 Hi PhantomiZ, The instructions for upgrade are all in the forum posts for each revision. With kind regards, Michel
PhanTomiZ Posted August 19, 2016 Posted August 19, 2016 Sorry for the need to be spoon fed...I can't seem to find a procedure anywhere withing the forum posts. Tried attaching to PC, but it doesn't recognize the device. After reading the procedure on the Aeotec site, it says "MultiSensor 6's firmware can be upgraded using Z-Stick from Aeotec and Microsoft Windows." Since I don't have a z-stick, I can't do the firmware upgrade. What am I missing? Thanks PhanTomiZ

Thanks PhanTomiZ Hi PhanTomiZ, The procedure for upgrading the Aeon multisensor 6 using a PC is defined by Aeotec, so you may want to contact the support people at Aeotec directly ( https://aeotec.freshdesk.com/support/home ). As you mentioned, it does appear that you need a z-stick to do the firmware upgrade from your PC.
PhanTomiZ Posted August 19, 2016 Posted August 19, 2016 I thought I could do the upgrade with just a computer... Thanks
