gduprey Posted April 15, 2016 Posted April 15, 2016 Howdy, So just purchased the Aeotec ZWave doorbell (http://www.amazon.com/Aeon-Labs-ZW056-z-wave-doorbell/dp/B0182XG27Q). It's definitely a 1st gen product for them and a bit futsy, but like the idea. It showed up in ISY, but it requires a few things I'm not seeing. For one, with the proper parameter set, it's supposed to see events when the doorbell button is pressed and present them to the ISY. I can't see anyway to pickup/act on these events (well, there is an CONTROL ON event, but I can't get it to seem to do anything) For another, a lot of the control of this thing is by setting Zwave config parameters (including the ability to play any one of several arbitrary MP3s). I can't see a way to programatically set ZWave parameters in the ISY -- am I missing anything? Has anyone had a chance to spend time with the unit and have anything new to report on interfacing it? Gerry
andyf0 Posted April 15, 2016 Posted April 15, 2016 You need the ALPHA firmware 5.0.4 (current latest) to be able to set Z-Wave parameters in a program.
grahamk Posted April 15, 2016 Posted April 15, 2016 This looks like a very interesting product to me. I really like that you can put in some custom mp3 files that can be played when different events occur. It might be worth it for that alone. "garage door open", or "someone just crossed the bridge" are mp3 files I would see myself using. It does seem like a product that would require multichannel support of 8.0.4 Please keep us updated with any progress making this thing work.
kohai Posted June 16, 2016 Posted June 16, 2016 Has anyone been successful in ringing this chime from the ISY? I don't need the doorbell button, I already have the Doorbird. I'd like to put this in my basement and when my doorbird is pressed, then I queue the chime in the basement.
Michel Kohanim Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 Hello kohai, AeoTec is sending us a sample of this device and we'll make sure it works (most probably only in 5.0.x). With kind regards, Michel
danbutter Posted June 22, 2016 Posted June 22, 2016 Great news! Looking forward to seeing this one working.
jch Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 I just purchased my second one and am using 5.0.4. Sending a DON will ring the default chime. To select another chime programmatically, set configuration parameter 6 to the number of the ring tone, 1 byte length from a program. This number does not seem to be directly tied to the ring tone, but to the order it appears in the directory listing. If you plug it into the USB port of a computer you can see the order. Doing a rename of the file will supposedly put it at the end of the list. For my first device, the buzzer is value 5, for my second it is value 2. Having installed this, I just removed my last X-10 device! I guess I can unplug that repeater from the dry outlet too.

mwester Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 A "DON" is the Insteon mesage to turn a device on ("Device ON").
