KPL LED Brightness

Hi All,

Am I missing something or the brightness of the KPL buttons can't be set in the Console? I've tried different values from 1 to 10 with no effect..

Cheers,

Alex

First thing is to be using the most current ISY firmware release ensuring that both UI / Firmware match when you select Help -> About.

Next, you should be aware the system will maintain a separation of the back lighting from on vs off. Also keep in mind sometimes changing the back lighting manually offers the best results because using the Admin Console sometimes offers a completely different user experience.

Lastly, sometimes the device needs to be hard reset and restored to let the adjustment take hold. You could certainly do an air gap and see if that allows you to update the back lighting. If that fails to make any changes do a hard reset, restore, and try again.

I've had to make changes manually to some older units because for what ever reason the ISY never made the correct changes through the UI.

Setting the Backlight level On/Off value affects all buttons on the KPL.

Need to know the Off level value and the On Level value being set in KPL Brightness popup.   The KPL firmware will not allow an On level and Off level that are very close in value as it would be difficult to know which buttons are On and which are Off.

Post the KPL firmware level as that can affect when Brightness levels take effect.

KPLs are Brand new - Rev. 7, off level is 0, ON level (as I said) I tried anything from 0 to 10 with no difference. Behaviour is the same on all 3 8-button KPL..

I have found using the up and down arrows instead of keying in the values seems to work more often than not.

Tried that too..

Thanks Teken, this kind of works.. It adjust both on and off levels in the same time in some strange way. It looks like the dimmest level is not all that dim when you do it this way. Still wish the console adjustment worked so I can have better and finer control over those..

Off=0 On=3 is the same as Off=0 On=5 is the same as Off=0 On=7.   The KPL firmware does not allow Off=0 On=3 as a functional combination as the difference between Off and On LED level is too small.   Need to know how a device works (KPL in this case) when setting values.  From memory the KPL requires a 7 or 8 increment value difference between Off an On levels.  That is why manually changing Off/On levels with KPL does not provide the result you are expecting/hoping for.
