Need help configuring ISY-994i and ELK M1 ....

I have an ISY-994i IR Pro (v.4.4.6) with the optional ELK Security Module. I'd like to link it to my ELK M1 so that I can have ELK events trigger Insteon scenes and programs. I have an M1XEP connected to the ELK which appears to be working fine. Using apps such as M1 Touch on my Android phone, or eKeypad on my iPad, I can access and control the M1 via the non-secure port. I am having trouble, however, being able to do the same with the ISY. I enabled the ELK M1XEP in the administrative console, and entered the IP address, port number and access code. After saving these settings, I was unable to control the ELK from the ISY. In fact, the ISY's admin console became sluggish and barely usable. I had to un-check the "enabled" box just to get it working normally again.

Unfortunately, I do not currently have access to the ELK RP2 software. The system was installed by a professional alarm company, and they do not allow the end user to mess with the configuration. I have a guy from the alarm company coming out tomorrow to help me with this situation, but I wanted to make sure that I first understand exactly what settings need to be made on both the ISY and the ELK. For all I know, the guy may be super knowledgeable about this sort of thing, but I don't want to take any chances. I found these instructions, but it is my understanding that some of this information is out of date ......

If anyone has any insight into this situation, I'd really appreciate your help. Thanks!

Can ping both your ELK XEP as well as the ISY from your desktop?

EDIT: BTW Those are the most up to date instructions.

Yes, I can ping both devices. In regards to the instructions being up to date, I thought I read that a recent ISY firmware update changed the way encryption is handled.

FYI, the firmware on my M1 as well as my XEP hasn't been updated in 6-7 years. I'm thinking this may be part of the problem.

PM sent. Maybe I can walk you through over the phone.

Thanks, guys! The installer is at my house and is in the process of updating the firmware on everything. As I suspected, they won't let me get into the system on my own. I guess they are worried that I will mess something up. :(

Just to verify, once my ISY is successfully linked to the XEP, will I be able to do all the programming for triggered events on the ISY side? For example, if my alarm is triggered in the middle of the night, can I create a program in the ISY that will see that trigger and turn on certain lights? What about notifications such as email and/or texts? Can I have the ISY notify me when an alarm goes off or if a certain zone is violated, or does this have to be done from the ELK? This would help me keep track of when my kids come and go.

As long as you have the Elk Module (your 1st post indicates you do) installed you can do all that you are looking for. I think there are some examples in the Wiki.

Does the alarm company monitor the alarms for you? If not, I would be installing the program and getting access to the alarm system. After all, it is yours.

Yes, the company that installed the system also does the monitoring. Since they are responsible for dispatching the police or fire department, I guess I can understand why they wouldn't want their customers messing around in there. Fortunately, it's not a big deal. It's very rare that I have to make any changes to my Elk setup, and now that I have the latest firmware and have the ISY properly linked to the M1, I can handle all of the other stuff myself on the HA side.
