aegixx Posted June 1, 2016 Posted June 1, 2016 I'm a pretty deep technical guy, but a completely newbie to the home automation world, so thanks for bearing with me! I have a fairly recently installed 2GIG security system setup with the CP21 control panel and TS1 (touch panel) with the 2GIG passive RF sensors for door and windows throughout my house. I have the ISY994iZwPRO/IR that I'd like to make the primary programmable controller for my system and begin to expand for adding some more active components. If I'm thinking correctly, the 2GIG sensors are RF-only and are NOT Z-Wave, which means they would NOT be accessible via the ISY -- this would mean my only option for recognizing an open window / door would be to trigger a scene from the 2GIG somehow and pass that through to the ISY. So, two questions: 1) How should the 2GIG CP21 and the ISY994 show to each other? Are they both ZWave devices? Are they both controllers? Should I be adding one as the primary? I know there may be more than one right answer, so I need someone to tell me the the MOST right answer, since I don't know where to start.... 2) If I want to programmatically recognize when a door/window is open/closed, what is my best option for moving forward? I tried both directions without any clear success. The 2GIG would switch to Secondary, but I'm not clear what that really means in the grand context of things. I'd love some direction on where to get a good primer...

Our monitoring company just installed a 2GIG CP21 to replace our older unit since they're phasing out 2G communications.

Like aegixx, I'd like to have the 2GIG panel be able to pass state information about the RF devices connected to 2GIG. I can get the ISY and 2GIG controllers to 'see' each other, and can play with which one is primary, secondary, etc. --but I'm not sure how to make this useful. Ideas on how to figure out? thanks

breischaft Posted February 26, 2017 Posted February 26, 2017 Yes I have. The 2GIG is secondary. I see it in the tree. But there are no options to see the RF devices that are connected to the 2GIG. This is where I would like to understand what the Z-wave configuration parameters are and can do for me. Can the ISY read states of the devices connected to the 2GIG? ideally, I will be able to tap into the door contacts and other security devices that are connected to the 2GIG and be able to use them for programs in the ISY. thanks for your reply.

From what I gather, the only thing you are seeing is a node for the other controller BUT not all the devices attached to it. breischaft Posted February 28, 2017 Posted February 28, 2017 The devices attached to the other controller are not Zwave, they are RF. I was hoping to somehow pass their state information from the other controller to the ISY. This is where the only thing I can see on the ISY are the configuration parameters, which I know nothing about. Since it looks like the ISY can 'read' these parameters from the other controller, I didn't know if there was an opportunity to use these to communicate. thanks
