Aeon Multisensor

I am going to put some work into these sensors?  I see 2 primary types out there.  the 4in1 and the multisensor6.

I have dumps for the mutisensor6 from my app reports, but I do not have any node dumps from the 4in1.  If anyone has one of these could you post me a node dump of it and all of its nodes so that I can add support for these to my app?

Thanks andy.  Would you be able to supply the xml version of the dump?  http(s)://<isy>/rest/nodes/<sensor node addrs>

J_Barrett, how were you able to set that multisensor over to F?  I can't seem to do it on mine.

The instructions say change parameter 1 from 0 to 1, which sounds simple enough.  I just keep getting errors.

post-8126-0-87283900-1469554195_thumb.png

I've tried all of the various size options in case that was wrong - same problem.

Is there some trick to setting a parameter like setting z-wave battery devices not to go back to sleep (which I've tried) or something else that enables this to work?

Hmm.  No, I'm not.

I have the 4-in-1, but I'm guessing it follows a similar method.  The instructions that came with it were nowhere near as verbose.  I'll look for something similar for the 4-in-1.  But perhaps I need to be manually putting it in that 10 minute wake state before trying to set parameters through the ISY.  Even that isn't entirely clear to me from the 6-in-1 doc.

It's a nudge in the right direction though.  Thanks!

Oooooh... Thanks for that attachment.  Pictures = 1000 words.  Yeah, I need that sometimes.

I have a ZOOZ Z-Wave Plus 4-in-1 Sensor ZSE40.  Mine's completely different (hence the manual is completely different - I'm good at this, aren't I?)

The manual (leaflet) says TEMPERATURE SENSOR: Use Parameter 1 to switch from Celsius (value 0x00) to Fahrenheit (value 0x01) scale.

I'm trying to do that through right-clicking the sensor, Z-wave, Set Configuration Parameter.  Then I'm confronted with the Number, Size, Value box.  I'm guessing it should be 1,2,1 respectively, but I've tried all different sizes just in case.  I'm thinking, from the Aeotec instructions, I'm missing something completely different like needing to do something physically to the device first like set it to be awake by poking the paperclip button a certain way.

Still, maybe there is a more thorough manual online that I can search for.

Well, still no luck.

This is my manual: http://www.lorenzhd.com/thesmartesthouse/downloads/zooz-zse40-4-in-1-sensor-manual.pdf

I've had no problems including it and excluding it a few times, but still no luck trying to set the parameters.  It seems to be happily working just as it should be otherwise giving humidity updates every 3 minutes because my normal humidity is over it's default warning level - another parameter I'd change if I could.

Hi Dethpickle,

Can you please tell me whether or not you get any errors? Or, when you set the parameter and then go back to the configuration dialog, have they been set or reset to original settings?

With kind regards,

Michel

Hi Michel,

I was getting the errors I put in the screen shot in my first post.  But the Zooz support folks just responded.  The trick is that I have to hit the z-wave button on it twice with every SET or QUERY statement.  Maybe that's normal (I'm new) but I didn't know and the manual didn't say that.  The manual only mentioned hitting the button twice in the context of include/exclude so I was assuming if I did that again I'd be signaling the device to anticipate being excluded.  Silly human logic.

So I have F now.  Yay!

I've reached back out to their support for a complete list of parameters with descriptions.  In the search for answers, I had found someone else who had written a SmartThings handler for the same device with more parameters exposed and descriptions in the comments.  Staring at his code for awhile, I'm seeing that the only thing I can't seem to get to that I want to is the "WakeUpInterval" which seems to be a  z-wave V2 configuration, as opposed to everything else being V1 (which is set by param number).  Can we set V2 parameters in ISY?

A warning....

Having run my Multi Sensor now for a couple of days - I'm noticing that it's reporting a very high temperature ( 81.8 ) when my thermostat is set to 75. Air in the room measures 75...

So, I got out my Seek Thermal camera - and got a shock. The sensor generates it's own heat - throwing off the temperature measurement...

My admin console shows this:

The multi sensor measures 82 degrees on the thermal camera (matching whats reported to the ISY):

..and the same thermal camera measures the desk it's sitting on at 74..

I have not contacted Aeotec yet - but anyone else seeing high reported temps from the Multisensor?

Michael.

Michael.

This is the same problem with every WiFi smart thermostat.

Then the manufacturer compensates the sensor reading by subtracting from the reading to get actual temperature of the sensor's environment.

Fine until a breeze comes along and the indicated temperature drops down to the environment minus the compensation. Now you are too low by X degrees.

This is becoming a problem that never existed with the old mechanical stat or a well designed stat with good thermal isolation of the electronics from the sensor.

I almost garbaged my T7900 because of this problem and their tech help played completely dumb on me, with comebacks like "We can't be responsible for the accuraccy of your reference sensors", and other completely unrelated help comments. They just don't understand their own products and how they function. All it took was the diagnosis of the what was happenning and to isolate the stat from the return air flowing in the joist cavity behind the stat.

In the end programming people are not HVAC people, despite their programming savvy.

Mount it on a large cookie sheet.

Best of luck with getting it across.

What do you mean by V2? Z-Wave plus?

Yes, Michel, I think.   Look at Andyf0's post - the second one in this thread.  The Wake_Up is a V2 parameter.  And I apologize, I'm doubly confusing this in that my initial question was misplaced in that I'm on a Zooz multisensor, not the Aeon one.

I can change my normal V1 parameters now (the trick I didn't know was needing to press the device's z-wave button EVERY time I set or queried something).  This is passable for me.  But batteries be damned, I would like to play with having the sensors report every X minutes - changing the WakeUp.  This I haven't figured out.  The manufacturer says setting this is controller specific.  I only know the one way of setting parameters (by number) and can see the Aeons run the intervals in a high parameter (100-102).  I couldn't find something similar for the zooz.

So, sorry for the double thread-jack there.  I think I'm going to follow one of the other threads here and try to write a sensor log file at an interval rather than just try to force the sensors to report in on that interval (regardless of changes).

Thanks!

Michael, can you help me understand, I have Multisensor 6 installed in the room, so which thermostat I need to chose that can pick up temperature from multisensor 6, as I want put thermostat in boiler room, and all HVAC control will be from IPAD or so. i need find solution for control HVAC with only multisensor or any another zwave sensor in the room. Any ideas will be so much appreciated. Thank you
