Monoprice Zwave Recessed Door Sensor

Featured Replies

Posted

Hello,

I recently purchased on of the new Monoprice Zwave door sensors.  I was able to include it easily enough but all it shows is battery level.  When I check the event viewer it is reporting 0 when the door closes and 255 when it opens.  Is there any way that I can use this signal in a program to show whether the door is open or closed?  If not is there another way that I can show this?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Nate

Yes, you should be able to use this in a program but if you do not see it as option, try restarting the Admin Console.

When you first add a battery operated alarm, the ISY determines some of the capabilities of the alarm when it first goes off rather than when you add the alarm.  There is a bug where in some cases you have to restart the Admin Console to see the changes.

Thanks for the reply. I tried restarting the console but it still isn't working. I'll exclude and reinclude tonight to see if that resolves it.

I have excluded and re-included the device (as well as restarted the commmand console) and it is still not giving me anything that I can use in a program.   Is there anything else that I can try?

Thanks,

Nate

What version of the ISY firmware are you running?  This may be one of the cases where we (incorrectly) ignore the report because we don't create a status value for it in the node.  We hope to have a fix for it in the next build.

I am running 4.5.1. The interesting thing is that there is a tamper alert that tells you when the case that contains the sensor is open and this is working correctly but the sensor itself is not.

  • Author

Its possible that it is a newer sensor type not supported by the v4.5.1 firmware.

I am able to see the signal in the event viewer so it appears that the ISY is receiving a signal just not utilizing it. Would this support your statement?

Nate, were you ever able to get this sensor to work correctly with you Isy?

  • Author

No, based on the last response I assumed it wasn't supported yet but might be in a future update so I'm just waiting at this point.

No, based on the last response I assumed it wasn't supported. I'm waiting for an update in which it will be.

Alas, I have four of these and have the same issues.  Has this issue been resolved or will it be resolved in the future?

Hello, I just wanted to see if there has been any movement on this.  I have this same issue with the monoprice door/window sensor.  It includes easily enough and I can see events in the event viewer, but only the battery level shows up for device otherwise.

Am I just waiting for the next build before I see more functionality?  I am running 4.5.4

Thanks

Hello Home Automator,

Can you please make sure your UI is also at 4.5.4, right mouse click | Z-Wave | Show Information in Event Viewer | All, then copy/paste the contents and paste back.

With kind regards,

Michel

Thank you Michel.  I confirmed that both the firmware and the Ui are at 4.5.4.  Please see below for the requested event viewer information:

Ah, so the issue is a device issue. SO these are pretty useless, and no "fix" is gonna change that. Now I get it. Thanks, too bad, I liked these. <g>

Thanks

Chris
