Filled in the survey not sure what information it will provide?

  • Author

If the results show many are using ISY, many more may follow. People often look for safety in numbers, when making purchases.

What does that have to do with the CacoonTech Forum? Who created the poll?

Edit: OK, I found the creator B)

Any insight as I completed the survey late in the evening and didn't bother putting on my P.I. hat?

Nope. Without more info, I bypassed the survey.

Why, survey is anonymous and could help ISY popularity..

Strange, I've never even heard of Home Assistant... I must live in a bubble...

Glad I am not the only one!

Home Assistant is an open source software, it could work with different hubs including IST. It's strange tho to compare pure software package with hardware device in that poll category..

Cheers,

Alex

True but whomever is doing it isn't really comparing anything, other than user's choices of HA system.

Looks like a popularity contest.

The reason I posted it here is, in that forum, things are very biased with so many participants selling and promoting their own products. The participants always get a biased view of the real world and ISY loses before the book cover can be opened.

What Cocoontech members biased?!?!

Say it ain't so LMAO . . .

Everyone is biased.

Short and to the point.

I want to know why Adobe is on the list?

They have both listed under different questions. Probably a typo.

Interesting that Home Assistant is winning the race as a "side controller". Could mean people weren't as happy with it as when they started, or could mean the misread the poll question.

ISY counts are doing well there.

I guess the author forgot to include any of the Insteon HUB's as a possible option?!?!

Hubs? We don't need no stinkin' hubs!

Yeah and they are so Insteon conscious there! (sarc)

isn't that the link to the reddit monthly poll? /r/homeautomation .

Happens every month. Reddit is full of folks who think paid software is inherently evil, hence the popularity of the freeware.

The ISY is currently a respectable second as a primary controller and ahead of homeseer. Good to see, though its hard to tell how random the sampling really is. I believe that there are more actual HS users vs ISY.

Given how crazy this market has become, it would be good to see a true randomized sampling of HA users of each of this modified version of the poll by household:

  • Primary Controller (same list + Aduino, Pi, Beaglebone,.., echo,...)
  • Secondary Controllers & Hubs used
  • PLC Primary - I have xxx% (Insteon, Zwave, Zigbee, Lutron, X10,..)
  • PLC Secondary - I have xx% (Insteon, Zwave, Zigbee, Lutron, X10,..)
  • Non PLC protocols used (wifi, BT, IR, ....)
  • All HA cloud protocols (HomeKit, AllJoyn...)
  • All Cloud Integration mashups (IFTTT, Stringify,...)

Paul

The poll highly depends upon the visibility of said poll.

Given Larry published this information in the UDI forum it would make sense the ISY would be seeing decent numbers. If the same poll was placed in the Vera forum well guess what Charlie Brown?

In the ideal world a survey monkey of the very same would be pushed to all HA enthusiasts that would offer a true insight as to the world populations. I do however find it odd and funny at the same time that not one single vendor ever goes out of their way to indicate the total population of their wares.

Keeping in mind you simply can't say its based on units sold because if a warehouse has XXX thousands, millions, on a shelf that's not the same as being in the end users hands.
