I'm trying to get them to link with ISY through the "start linking" button. None of them will transmit and be seen by ISY??? I don't know (and its not written on them) what the address is, so I can't link via that? Any ideas. Some are very old V1.5, one is 3.1 and one is 4.5... aLf Link to comment

Maybe the load loads down the powerline transmitter and "settles down" the powerline signal, making it more coherent and less saturated/noisy. Link to comment

Yes, those 1.5 firmware AL's are really old and I forgot a load needed to be placed on them to operate correctly. Going off memory some of the hardware I have on hand when you tried to turn the device on-off. If there was no load on the device a red (!) would appear. A lay person would think there was some kind of comm issue but in reality the device just needed an attached load to be present. Very happy this odd behavior was corrected in future iterations of Insteon hardware because that just didn't make sense! I can only imagine the returns and service calls for this product!
