ISY Finder Not Found

Sorry, but I've been troubleshooting this for > an hour and I'm just at a loss. Any further ideas?

I logged into my ISY 994i/IR Pro, probably a week ago last. No problem. Today, however, it is not coming up when bringing up the admin console.

I am using Windows 10 Pro.

I re-downloaded the latest console at http://isy.universal-devices.com/994i/4.5.1/admin.jnlp

I have reset my ISY 2 or 3 times as well as my router and my switch. I've checked and rechecked that it is plugged into my network properly and that the PLM is plugged in (and tried the 'plug PLM in first before turning on the ISY' advice seen elsewhere). The Power light is blue, no other lights on or blinking (which I think is normal..) I tried a different CAT-6 cable incase of a bad cable without a fix. When unplugging the ethernet cable I believe I get the appropriate blinking error light.

I literally uninstalled all antivirus/firewall software (except the default Windows Defender) to rule that out (I tried to allow access; still wasn't working and I thought this was certainly it cause I just installed new antivirus, but still didn't fix it). In Windows Firewall, I believe I have it set to allow through both public and private networks.

When I try to manually add my ISY by IP address in the admin ISY finder, it says "Invalid URL"

On my router, I have the IP address reserved and it's showing up on my list of attached devices. I have UPNP turned on (not sure if that's relevant)

I AM able to bring up the web GUI in my browser by IP address (I've tried in Chrome and Edge), I am able to bring up the web interface, but of course can't bring up the admin console due to the limitation of no Java applet. However, I cannot control any devices with the web GUI (I've never used it before, don't know if that's new). The behavior is just like with my Mobilinc App (see below)

I cleared the Java cache (Java Control Panel -> Temporary Internet Files -> Settings -> Delete Files -> check every box and click "OK")

I have the Mobilinc Pro app, v 4.9. In settings, Lighting controller, I see my settings and I am able to "Tap to Sync with ISY", however, the app does not seem to be working (for example, one of the light switches says it's on, though it's off, and I am unable to control any devices through the app).

My last idea: I did do a backup last week; should I try a factory default reset and reload my backup?

Did you assign a port (other than 80) to the ISY?

Did you assign a port (other than 80) to the ISY?

I don't recall specifying any specific port upon setup... but maybe I am forgetting?

Update: For what it's worth, when checking the settings on my mobilinc app (which I rarely use, but did work when I first set it up), it says "Local Port: 80"

Hi DrGerm,

If you are still having problems, please submit a ticket and we'd be delighted to help figuring out the issue.

With kind regards,

Michel

Submitted, and received your response. Thanks!

FYI:

You MUST enter "http://" prior to to the IP address when manually entering into the ISY finder. That allowed me to log in.

Now, I see that my PLM has probably gone defective. I'm not sure if that caused the problem originally above, but if anyone is reading this thread for a similar problem, keep the above tip and my new finding in mind.

Thanks!

Good moring Michel,

I have the same problem or similar since March or April 2016. I can not enable the option enable Internet on my administration console & access to my Isy outside the home network.

I have posted several times but no one can find a solution.

I have changed my Isy, router, .... same problem....

Thanks

The option in the admin console is not related.

You need to make a hole in your router firewall using port forwarding using a port number and then access it from outside your Lan using your isp issued ip address and the port number and https://

Port forwarding acts as an IP and port translator to convert various port numbers to various ip addresses on your Lan.

I too have struggled for several hours reading and fiddling.

Reinstall Java, unplug ISY.

ISY finder reports not found regardless of if I use http or https.  I found a reference to port 8226 in the firewall configuration portion of the wiki.  I also see port 80 referred to above.  None of these worked.

Using the fix from aartech of " your_isy_ip_address://admin.jnlp    (replace your_isy_ip_addres with the IP address of your ISY994) " took me to a google search page.

I can browse to the device and use the "web" interface or udajax, but clicking on the admin console takes me to a screen like the screen shot below.

image.png.ecd70c58c2eb4f75523ca2bc42968c51.png

The last thing I had tried was accessing the device within firefox and edge by typing the ip/admin in the address but I only got to the same screen and there's no Java information.

So I got to thinking as TheSwartz said...there's no Java applet.....

So I tried Internet Explorer and voila...I'm in to the administrative console.

I would like to sound smart and say it's an issue with java, but I have no idea.  What I do know is that I can only get in with IE.

Hope this helps with troubleshooting.

That url worked perfectly on my win 10 system but always failed on my win 7 system with ISY v5.0.12.

On my win 7 system, I had to use the udajax app and manually install the admin console java applet from it. The URL above never installed the adimn console and always showed the splash screen you show. I got there by only typing the IP address of my ISY into the URL box of IE 11. (no "admin" or other URL suffix)

larryllix,

There are a few factors that cause ISY Finder not to find ISY on a Windows machine even though it should:

1. Firewall blocking all UDP packets
2. The security certificate for the Admin Console is not accepted
3. ISY's http port is not the default 80

With kind regards,

Michel

Thanks.

In three years ISYFinder never has found ISY yet. Java allowance has it set to allow by url name and URL IP address.

This is about loading the admin console software finding. It has to load every time and never installs admin console without udajax usage to manually install.

Win10 installs admin console just fine from 192.168.0.161/admin but win7 doesn't. Neither ever finds ISY with ISY finder without double clicking url manually installed.

I also am unable to open my admin console.  I have been able to in the past but something is preventing it today

it is at 192.168.1.254

I am able to ping this address

ping 192.168.1.254

I am able to control my existing devices from the My Devices window under Home

However when I click Admin Console, I get the "Please Keep This Window Open" page and nothing happens.  I have tried in both Chrome and IE.

I also have a "ISY994 Administrative Console" icon on my desktop (resulting from a reload of this app a few hours ago), when I click it, it produces a window with the header "ISY Finder: Not Found"

Also, I have 4k screens, resulting in very small text image.thumb.png.c4dd4eb725d963cddadfcf1edeb7be89.png

magnification is not readable

Tried Add button at the bottom - entering http://192.168.1.254/admin, as well as http://192.168.1.254/admin.jnlp resulting in

Did you try the Add with no "admin" on the end? That is the way it worked for me.

Thanks Michel. I have since gotten in to work, as follows:

1. Invoke ISY Finder
2. When it prompts for credentials, Cancel
3. Click Add button at bottom of ISY Finder window
4. Enter URL of ISY https://192.168.1.254/admin
5. Close ISY Finder
6. Open ISY Finder, enter credentials when prompted

The only issue I have now is the size of the fonts on my 4k displays.  (I need to use a real magnifying glass to use the UI) Did some java research looks as though a possible solution to this (from https://stackoverflow.com/questions/18249592/how-to-change-font-size-in-drawstring-java) is the update the java code as follows:

Because you can't count on a particular font being available, a good approach is to derive a new font from the current font. This gives you the same family, weight, etc. just larger...

Font currentFont = g.getFont();
Font newFont = currentFont.deriveFont(currentFont.getSize() * 1.4F);
g.setFont(newFont);

You can also use TextAttribute.

Map<TextAttribute, Object> attributes = new HashMap<>();

attributes.put(TextAttribute.FAMILY, currentFont.getFamily());
attributes.put(TextAttribute.WEIGHT, TextAttribute.WEIGHT_SEMIBOLD);
attributes.put(TextAttribute.SIZE, (int) (currentFont.getSize() * 1.4));
myFont = Font.getFont(attributes);

g.setFont(myFont);

The TextAttribute method often gives one even greater flexibility. For example, you can set the weight to semi-bold, as in the example above.

One last suggestion... Because the resolution of monitors can be different and continues to increase with technology, avoid adding a specific amount (such as getSize()+2 or getSize()+4) and consider multiplying instead. This way, your new font is consistently proportional to the "current" font (getSize() * 1.4), and you won't be editing your code when you get one of those nice 4K monitors.

Thanks for you help,

Chet
