Sachelis Posted December 9, 2016 Posted December 9, 2016 I just set up an Alexa Dot and am confused that there are two places where I can enter spoken names: I can right-click on a device in the Administrative Console, choose Note, and enter a name in the Spoken field. This is the method shown in the Echo Integration video. I can visit https://my.isy.io, choose Select Tool | Connectivity | Amazon Echo and then choose Add Device to specify Spoken names (with up to four alternative Spokens). As far as I can tell, only the spoken names entered using method #2 (above) have any effect. Do I need to enter spoken names in both locations? Is there a reason to enter spoken names in the Admin Console? Thanks! Quote
Michel Kohanim Posted December 9, 2016 Posted December 9, 2016 Hi Sachelis, Complete instructions are here: http://wiki.universal-devices.com/index.php?title=ISY_Portal_Amazon_Echo_Integration With kind regards, Michel Quote
Sachelis Posted December 9, 2016 Author Posted December 9, 2016 Thanks Michel. I've read those instructions and have it working, but I'm still unclear as to why the spoken names can be entered in two locations. Quote
stusviews Posted December 9, 2016 Posted December 9, 2016 That the spoken can be entered from the Notes option is from before the portal. Since the advent of the portal, the Notes spoken serves no purpose. I don't know if it'll be retained in Release 5+ as it has no use anymore. Quote
andyf0 Posted December 9, 2016 Posted December 9, 2016 The Spoken Words in the Notes is used by the MobiLinc Alexa skill. Quote
