Broyd
This question was asked before by PhanTomiZ on 18 Aug 2016 but was not answered: How does one find the firmware version of the device?. I too am now wondering how I can do this. Is there a window in the admin console that will display this information? (as for example 1.06) Also is there a way to reset the Z-Wave device number? (as ZW 005 -> ZW 001) TIA!
PhanTomiZ
No response, so I'll let you know what I know. I still haven't found a method to verify the version of the Multisensor 6 firmware. I believe you will have to get a Z-Stick from Aoetec and do the verification and firmware update using this device. I would like to update my 4 Multisensors, but can't justify the cost for a one or two time, single purpose device that will collect dust and/or get lost. Here is more info: http://forum.universal-devices.com/topic/18669-aeon-aeotec-multisensor-6-temperature-units/?hl=%2Bfirmware+%2Bmultisensor&do=findComment&comment=184564 You might want to re-post your second question as I'm also interested in the answer. PhanTomiZ P.S. One poster in B.C. was looking to rent a z-stick.
ldb
I supplied serial numbers to my supplier and they verified my version to be the latest of 1.7. That was in August 2016.
vjk
1. If you own an Aeon z-stick ver 5, you can download the zensys tool utility from Aeon website, include the device you are interested in into the zstick network and display firmware version. 2. In their infinite wisdom, zensys does not allow to re-use/assign a specific node id. If you include/exclude devices, the nid will keep incrementing until it reaches 232 and then will wrap around to id 2 assuming the controller occupies node id 1. Broyd
Thanks gentlemen! I appreciate your responses; I'd had given up on anyone replying to this topic. As it turns out, I did buy a Z-stick Gen 5 from Amazon and did apply 1.07 to a new Multisensor 6 ZW100-A. I didn't know what the firmware version of that MS6 was beforehand but it loaded 1.07 OK. The firmware update tool did not display the existing MS6 firmware level. I downloaded the zensys tool and will check that out very soon. Updating the firmware on one of these MS6 takes quite a long time - about 10 minutes. Firmware 1.08 doesn't look like a great update; it gives you the ability to prevent the LED on the front of the MS6 from lighting up but messes with the time reporting on the MS6 - looks like no faster than 240 seconds. It's a PITA that you can't reset the device number but if you can't you can't. Again, thanks to the 3 of you for your input. Best regards, Broyd
Broyd
A question vjk ... How / where does the Multisensor 6 version number show up? So far I have added the MS6 to the Z-Stick using the zensys tool. I'm not sure where to go from here ... I did play around with the zensys tool I selected the MS6 and then opened the command class tab on the right and then selected version -> get and clicked on metadata send. I got a hex string that contained a 01 and a 07 along with other hex digits. I suspect that that is the version. Does this show up anywhere else displaying a clearly identified version? TIA! The VERSION_REPORT format is described in the publicly available docs: http://z-wave.sigmadesigns.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/SDS12652-13-Z-Wave-Command-Class-Specification-N-Z.pdf I do not own a multi-sensor and do not know if it supports COMMAND_CLASS_VERSION_V2 or COMMAND_CLASS_VERSION_V1. I currently have an old binary switch connected to an aeon stick. My hex numbers are: 08:26:10.175: Received: COMMAND_CLASS_VERSION.VERSION_REPORT, hex data: 86 12 04 01 1C 02 00 0x86 -> COMMAND_CLASS_VERSION 0x12 -> VERSION_REPORT zwave library type: 0x04 -> Slave zwave protocol version: 0x01 zwave protocol subversion: 0x1c app version: 0x02 app subversion: 0x00 If the multisensor supports COMMAND_CLASS_VERSION_V2, you should see the firmware version as well (see page 341 for the report format). Broyd
Thanks vjk! I didn't know those documents existed. You have opened up a whole new area for me to explore. I have the MS6 manual and looked at the command class info and hex info but I didn't know where to find how to dig into that stuff! I didn't know where to begin. PERFECT! Broyd
I found the engineering specs (.pdf) for the MS6 firmware version 1.07 here: https://s3.amazonaws.com/cdn.freshdesk.com/data/helpdesk/attachments/production/6028954764/original/9%20Multisensor%206%20V1.07%20-%20ES.pdf?X-Amz-Algorithm=AWS4-HMAC-SHA256&X-Amz-Credential=AKIAJ2JSYZ7O3I4JO6DA%2F20170203%2Fus-east-1%2Fs3%2Faws4_request&X-Amz-Date=20170203T175614Z&X-Amz-Expires=300&X-Amz-Signature=4433a6c74bbbe3940f639bc0b63bb31bea3690deb5751defc5128d174d9b9677&X-Amz-SignedHeaders=Host&response-content-type=application%2Fpdf These specs seems to suggest that COMMAND_CLASS_VERSION_V2 is supported but when I check the available command classes using the zensys tool, I only find version v1. That's OK though because the hex string that is returned shows the version number. I identified the version by comparing the hex string returned by two different MS6's, one running 1.06 and the latest one running 1.07. I am just getting a glimmer to understanding about command classes ... This manual has many more parameters for the MS6 than I've ever seen before. Also version 1.07 changes the way you enter the data for the temperature offset. Version 1.07 allows you to specify whether you want your temperature displayed in F or C. The info specific to temperature offset and selecting between F and C are on this page. There is also a link to an excel spread sheet that will give you the values you need for parameter 201 in hex and decimal. https://aeotec.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/6000120736-calibrating-offsetting-temperature-on-multisensor-6-excel-easy-sheet-included To Michel: Would it be possible to include the firmware version for Z-Wave devices (Similar to that displayed for Insteon devices) in the admin console when a Z-Wave device is displayed using these techniques?
