ronvond
I have a number of devices, leak sensors, hidden door switches that are set up to send text messages to my iPhone when they change state. A few weeks ago I stopped getting the messages. When going to the Settings/Groups tab and selecting any of my groups I get Mail server failure [Password not accepted] error message. If it helps with troubleshooting, the recipient is [mycellnumber]@txt.att.net. As mentioned earlier this has worked flawlessly for over a year. In the SMTP section I'm showing smtp.gmail.com, using port 587. I don't think this is important since I never use the email function. Thanks for any help you can offer Link to comment
larryllix
Your firmware version and UI version may help with the diagnosis. Link to comment

andyf0
The smtp address is absolutely important. Essentially you are Emailing AT&Ts Email to SMS server. You must have your gmail username and password populated. Link to comment
ronvond
I didn't mean to imply that the SMTP settings were blank. They are: SMTP Server smtp.gmail.com SMTP Port 587 User ID myaddress@gmail.com Password ************* From Ron:myemailaddress@gmail.com Timeout 1000 Use TLS is checked Link to comment
ronvond
In order to ascertain that the password was correct, I went to the Google site, changed my password, and then updated it in the SMTP settings area Still no luck! Link to comment
MWareman
Have you enabled 'Allow insecure apps' in your Google profile? That's necessary to allow generic SMTP clients to authenticate. See https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/6010255?hl=en Also, if you enabled 2fa on your Google account, you'll need to get an application specific password to use for authentication. ronvond
Thank you, that was the answer. In the meantime I found that checking the "Use Default" box clears everything from the SMTP Settings area and now I just get a text message from ISY whenever one of my sensors changes state.
