grtaylor Posted March 6, 2017 Posted March 6, 2017 I'm using First Alert CO detectors and the Smoke Bridge to connect them to ISY. That's all fine, no issues. But I'd like to trigger Elk's CO alarm if possible - for Central Station monitoring for one, but for showing CO as the reason for the Elk alarm on keypads. Was wondering if I could create a NO zone on Elk, defined as Type=CO and then use a program in ISY to trip the zone if the CO bridge reports ON. Would that do it? Any reason that's a bad idea?
MWareman Posted March 6, 2017 Posted March 6, 2017 Any reason that's a bad idea? ISY and Insteon are not UL certified for safety of life applications. I'd look to the native solutions for Elk if you are trying to have a Central station monitor CO (and smoke) detectors, and then have Elk report it to ISY for anything else you want to do.
grtaylor Posted March 6, 2017 Author Posted March 6, 2017 Thanks for the reply. Fair point, but the CO alarms will sound locally themselves, I'm not relying on this to alert anyone in the house that there's CO present - just report it to a tablet display and Central station.
CZIflyer Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 Did you ever figure out it this is possible? And how to program? I saw this post from a few years ago about trying to have the Insteon smoke bridge and ISY press the F key (fire Alarm) on the ELK keypad. But the post didn't say how he programmed. (see below) I am trying to set it up for a fire alarm to be sent to the alarm monitor company. How would you program this action? I imported lights from ISY into the ELK. Would you program the ELK or ISY? Do you need the ELK module on the ISY? I know the other option would be to buy the wireless adapter and ELK wireless smoke detector, but wanted to see if I can work with the smoke bridge. " Posted 20 April 2013 - 02:01 PM I ended up programming the main keypad to activate a fire alarm with the press of one of the F keys. I then wrote a program in the ISY to press that F key when the smoke bridge is active"
