Com*Ed Realtime Pricing, OpenADR & ISY

I'm a customer of Com*Ed in Illinois and I've been on the residential real-time pricing program (RRTP) for 10+ years. It is crucial for my monthly bill to be able to control power consumption during extremely high price periods. I was hoping that OpenADR and ISY would help me accomplish this, but I'm lost as to how to find out how (or if) Com*Ed supports OpenADR.

For example we have two heat pump systems that are propane backup, I'd like to force propane if energy rates are high.

I've looked at the My OpenADR configuration panel in the ISY dashboard... server? user? password? VTN? VEN? Party? Resource? Group? Market? Registration? No idea where to start looking for any of this information.

If anyone has any ideas, or if you're using OpenADR and have any comments I'd appreciate feedback.

Thanks!

Hi sillybilly1234,

I do not think ComEd supports OpenADR. This said I know ComEd does have Smart Meters and ISY ZS Series (ZigBee Smart Energy) is an approved device. So, what you need to do is to contact ComEd and makes sure a) you have Smart Meter at your home and B) they can provide price information through the meter and c) you can connect your ISY 994 ZS to the meter.

ZS = ZigBee Smart Meter. If you have ISY994i, then all you need is the ZigBee radio. If you have ISY994i ZW, unfortunately you will need to choose between Z-Wave and ZigBee.

With kind regards,

Michel
