multiple name for same scene.

Howdy all,

It seems that I am always saying the wrong name for my scenes when requesting them through our Amazon Echo.  Yes, our Echo is working great... It's not the problem... I am.

Say I want the bedroom lights on.  I say "Alexa, turn on bedroom lights", it says "I found several devices matching that name.  Which one did you want?"  Then I correct myself and say "Bedroom light", without the "s" at the end.  Alexa says "Okay Dummy"... So I added Dummy but I know she's thinking it.

Is there a way, besides memorizing the exact name, to have alternate names for the same devices and scenes?  It would be nice to have Alexa know that either "Bedroom Light" and "Bedroom Lights" means turning on the same thing.

Thanks,

Hi Phil

In the ISY Portal, go to Select tool, Connectivity, Amazon Echo

Click on an individual spoken on the list, on the right side. You can type in several different alternatives for each under the list Alternate spokens

Mine does that very frequently if I have two devices with the same words in the name.

It seems if Alexa can't make out the second word absolutely it favours the first one only. Usually saying exactly the same phrase gets it.

Years ago the Boston Computer Club had a motto. I'll paraphrase it here, "It's not your fault, it's Amazon's." The usual suggested solution is to give the device/scene/program alternate spoken names, up to five.
