renatohtpc
This has been driving me up a wall...... Running Firmware 4.6.2. PLM Info: 41.E9.92 v9E / Connected Also, let me preface that I am using "older" Insteon switches (i.e. 2476S SwitchLinc Relay W/Sense v.37 & v.38)) I have a program which at Sunrise, turns off the "Outside Lights" Scene. "if Time is Sunrise Then Set Scene 'Outside Lights' Off Else - No Actions" I noticed that occasionally, the Admin GUI (after sunrise) reports one of the 4 switches which make up the scene (i.e. Outside Lights) as being off. If I query the same switch from the admin console, the status is actually On. If I turn on/off the SAME switch from the admin console or eKeypad, I get the expected behavior. Any idea what could be possibly be causing this erratic behavior? Thanks Renato Link to comment
paulbates
Hi Renato Can you confirm: You have an intermittent problem with one switch The scene turns the light on, but the admin console shows it as off Also, did it always work correctly in the past and this is a new observed behavior? If that's right, I would suggest Leave the switch configured as normal in the ISY Go to the switch and factory reset it From the admin console, 'right click' on the switch and pick "Restore device" Give that a try for a few days and see if it fixes it Paul Link to comment
Techman
What type of load is connected to the problem switch. it's possible that once the load is on it's causing interference on the powerline. Link to comment
renatohtpc
Thank you both for your replies. Paul "The scene turns the light on, but the admin console shows it as off". It is actually the other way around. Two programs turns the scene on (on sunset) and off (on sunrise). When the sunrise program executes, is when I see the problem. "Also, did it always work correctly in the past and this is a new observed behavior?" This started about a month ago. I know, now you are going to ask me "what have I changed since?" well..... I have no clue Techman: They are LED E14 (candelabra) lights. Renato Link to comment
renatohtpc
One other thing.... I just got a new SD 16Gig Class 10 card. I am going to re-install the firmware and restore from backup. This hopefully will eliminate the possibility of a faulty SD card. Renato Link to comment
Brian H
Does not have to be something new. Can be something moved to a different location. Dual Band device like a 2443 Access Point going south and no longer getting the Insteon commands to the other power line. If you have any Access Points see if they are hardware 2.0 or higher. They have the same power supply issues as the 2413S PLMs. Though the Scene showing off and the lights are On maybe a clue. Link to comment
ISYhbsh01
Someone correct me if I am wrong. Scene commands are sent only once & no acknowledgments from the devices are received. The ISY just updates their status on the assumption that the scene command was properly received. With a direct command it is repeated 3 times until the device sends an acknowledgment. If your device has less than optimal communication this will explain why a scene command doesn't always work while you doing it from the console does work. You might want to consider having the program send direct commands instead of using a scene. Or you might send a direct command to that device only in addition to the scene. renatohtpc
I realize that the 2476S are quite "antique" What would be the advantage of upgrading those 2476S switches to say the 2477S?. Also I am using the 2473 OutletLinc V.38 for my outlets (about 10 of them) As an aside, my config has the following access points/extenders: 2X - P2443 V2.0 0940 on main floor 1X - 2992-222 R3.7 2016 on main floor 1X - PLM on second floor 1X - 2443 V2.6 1212 on second floor Renato Link to comment

If the circuit in one of the bulbs failed it could interfere with the Insteon OFF signal You can run a Scene Test by right clicking on the scene. This will give you a detailed readout of any issues. Post the results after you run the test. As BrianH mentioned above it can also be a problem with another device. The latest Dual Band devices have updated firmware and hardware which helps improve the network reliability. Link to comment
apostolakisl
Your communications are likely to improve significantly if you replace your older single band (2476 models) with dual band (2477) ones. Smarthome is having a sale right now with 25% off and if you buy the multipacks the price is pretty good. This holds true for both the dimmers and on/off switches. No doubt, your problems are communication related. a 5-pack of on/off switches is $211 minus 25% gets you down to about $31/ea. You'll need to add something else on there to get back up to $200 for the free shipping. I've been slowly replacing mine and either retiring my old switches or moving them to low priority duty. paulbates
I would recommend you try the factory reset suggested earlier. I have older togglincs that "lose it" after a few years of continuous use, and then behave normally once reset. It only takes a few minutes to try and costs nothing if it doesn't work Paul Link to comment

renatohtpc
Paul, sorry, I did not. Clearly I don't know what I am doing here..... So this is what I just finished doing...... As mentioned before: 1) I swapped the 2467 for a 2477 (i.e. deleted the 2467 from the Admin GUI and added the 2477). 2) I added the 2477 to the scene 3) Did a device restore on the 2477 4) Diagnostics -> Show device links table and compared to the ISY links table. results were 3 identical and 1 identical/ignore at the end. 5) Completed a scene test. Techman
It appears that your signal quality has improved based on the number of hops left versus the first scene test. Link to comment
apostolakisl
If the device you just replaced had nothing going except this one scene, then what you did is fine. Typically, you would use "replace with" command from the ISY admin console when replacing a switch. It will replace your old switch the new switch everywhere it existed (programs and scenes . . . all of them all at once). 1) Physically replace the old switch with new switch 2) Right click switch you are getting rid of and click "remove from folder" if it is in a folder, if not you can skip this step 3) Add new switch to ISY (click on the start linking swirly button at the top of the admin console and then push and hold the set button on the new switch until it beeps) 4) New switch shoudl show up on your screen, click "finish" so new switch is added, let it delete all olds links 5) Right click old switch and click "replace with" and then select your new switch (which at this point will just have a number name) 6) Let ISY do its thing 7) Reopen admin console and put your switch back into the folder (if you had it in a folder), the original switch will be gone and now a switch with the same name will be your new switch. Done. Keep in mind, replacing one swithc with a dual band device will not do much for comm since the radio will not have any other switches to talk to. The more dual band devices, the more paths the radio has. Edited July 26, 2017 by apostolakisl Link to comment
renatohtpc
Good morning everybody. Last night, (after sunset) I replaced 3 additional 2476 with 3 2477 (for a total of 4). This morning I checked the status of the Switch and can confirm that it did indeed turn off. I just finished replacing a fifth 2476 with a 2477. I then re-ran the same scene test and here are the results......
