Another PLM Restore Fail

I didn't want to glom onto another thread as it would make it more confusing. . . .

When I powered up the ISY (994), I let it go to each device, fail and replace the green IOIO with the red exc.  Then did the restore PLM.  I followed the steps to restore my new PLM, along the way I got the attached error and I still have a bunch of red exclamations.

Ideas?

I've updated the ISY to match the console, performed a restore from my most recent backup. . . . no luck.

PLM status does say 'connected' with the correct address.

If I try and restore a device it does nothing.

Sometimes when I start the console it just give me all of the 'comm failure' boxes and displays  the red exclamation points and sometimes it tries to communicate with each device, gives 'comm failure' box, then displays the red exclamation as each device fails comms.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

What's your Firmware and UI versions?

Unplug both the PLM and the4 ISY.

Power up the PLM, wait about 10 seconds, then power up the ISY

There's a problem resetting the PLM

Try doing a factory reset on the PLM, then a restore PLM.

Did you do a Delete PLM?, if you didn't DON'T.

After seeing all of the warnings about NOT deleting the PLM, no I didn't.

I am wondering why the issues.  I have done 3 replace plm's in the last year and all went off without a hitch.  I have done it with 5.x firmware and 4.5 firmware.  Two on one ISY and one a second ISY.  The second ISY, at the time, was only sparsely populated with Insteon devices/scenes/programs, but the one that I did twice has like 60 devices, hundreds of programs, and dozens of scenes.   And if you go back several years, I have done I think 4 replace PLM's (thanks SH for that one).

All I did was plug in the new plm, reboot the whole lot, and hit "replace plm".  I didn't even bother to boot the PLM first, just plugged the whole thing in at once (or at least very nearly all at once).

I sure was hoping it would go that well.  But I have seen a number of other threads in the forums about restore PLM hell.  One of them was exactly the same issues I am having.

I defaulted the PLM, rebooted the ISY, it's now going to each device and reporting failed comms.  When that is finished, I guess I'll try the restore PLM again.

If you use Amazon.

Check if it is an Amazon sold and shipped or a Amazon Marketplace vendor and shipped by Amazon.

I got a 2413S PLM sold and shipped by Amazon. Was the latest V2.3 hardware.

I have seen reports here some got Amazon Marketplace PLMs and they were an older V2.2. Warranty may also bee different if the vendor is not an authorized distributor.

Crap, I didn't notice that.  I was just reading the description verbiage (attached).  (which also says 99i LOL)

I guess I'll take my chances, check the rev level when it comes in and return it if its not 2.3.

The description is quite confusing.

"New revision (2.3) addresses issues with hardware longevity – buy from ‘ships from and sold by Amazon’ to ensure you receive the latest revision"

This particular item appears to be sold by a 3rd party seller.  This description is very misleading since you would think the description is applying to what you are buying.  I don't know how Amazon works, but I would think that each seller creates their own description, but perhaps the description is generated by Amazon regradless of the seller?  I don't know.

Yeah it is confusing.  I checked to see if there are any other 2413S on Amazon and there are not.  That is the only one.

There's no way that Amazon creates all of the descriptions when you see so many mis-spellings and grammatical errors in the descriptions, obviously from other countries, most of them probably China.

I sent the seller a message to verify it is 2.3.

I have seen with my PLM from Amazon. Depending on when I searched.  The default sellers page sometime was different. depending on when I did the search.

Amazon rotates their sellers between Amazon and 3rd parties. Sometimes it can change on a daily basis.
