io_guy Posted February 1, 2018 Posted February 1, 2018 Log file man. Just enable the file log. If it sets we'll see it. ISY and Ecobee debug. Broken record.
larryllix Posted February 1, 2018 Author Posted February 1, 2018 What setting do I use with the new levels you have installed? There were no logs created while NodeLink was down. Maybe I went the wrong way on the setting? Some days have no logs created.

larryllix Posted February 1, 2018 Author Posted February 1, 2018 Main: Log to File, Level Debug Ecobee: Level Debug System Config: Level Debug Thanks. will do.
larryllix Posted February 2, 2018 Author Posted February 2, 2018 OMG. The ecobee website went down within one minute of turning on my debug settings! Lost both stat comms as soon as I turned on the debug settings!
Bumbershoot Posted February 2, 2018 Posted February 2, 2018 Well I finally figured out how to install Mono version: 5.4.1.7 (tarball Wed Jan 17 22:33:48 UTC 2018) It takes a complete install and compile to upgrade it from 5.2.?. apt-get update + upgrade just doesn't do it. You might try "apt-get update; apt-get dist-upgrade". This should upgrade you to current. dist-upgrade dist-upgrade in addition to performing the function of upgrade, also intelligently handles changing dependencies with new versions of packages; apt-get has a "smart" conflict resolution system, and it will attempt to upgrade the most important packages at the expense of less important ones if necessary. The dist-upgrade command may therefore remove some packages. The /etc/apt/sources.list file contains a list of locations from which to retrieve desired package files. See also apt_preferences(5) for a mechanism for overriding the general settings for individual packages.

After some research I ended up doing the same thing and then saw your O/S version scraper post later. The update / upgrade process seemed to load lots of mono updates but it would never change the reported version My feeling now, is somehow I had a version of mono installed for a different O/S. I discovered a lot of that while watching the massive update overwrite files. We will see if it ever happens again. Hopefully not, and then I can just write this off to an install of mono not compatible with my O/S. Fingers crossed again.
Bumbershoot Posted February 2, 2018 Posted February 2, 2018 I'm not going to upgrade mono just yet, but there is a mono upgrade available as of today for my RPi. This is what the upgrade, using "apt-get dist-upgrade" would look like. I don't know if the removal of "mono-complete" and the addition of "referenceassemblies-pcl" will cause issues with Nodelink. pi@raspberrypi:~ $ sudo apt-get dist-upgrade Reading package lists... larryllix Posted February 2, 2018 Author Posted February 2, 2018 I am running 9.1 on my development RPi3 and 8.0 on my ISY pal RPi3. Mono won't install on mt RPi1 B+ anymore. I had to discard it for NodeLink. See they released a new RPi zero with WiFi and BT? Upgraded it to 1.0 GHz and 512MB.

xKing Posted February 2, 2018 Posted February 2, 2018 Just a side note - when you upgrade Jessie->Stretch - make sure to update mono repository to point to Stretch one $ cat /etc/apt/sources.list.d/mono-official.list deb https://download.mono-project.com/repo/debian raspbianstretch main
larryllix Posted February 2, 2018 Author Posted February 2, 2018 Just a side note - when you upgrade Jessie->Stretch - make sure to update mono repository to point to Stretch one $ cat /etc/apt/sources.list.d/mono-official.list deb https://download.mono-project.com/repo/debian raspbianstretch main There is one of the biggest problems with RPi. No such "file or directory" and using 9.1 (/etc/apt/sources.list.d/mono-official.list) "bash: deb: command not found". Thanks
xKing Posted February 2, 2018 Posted February 2, 2018 Sorry, not sure what you just said. Which commands did you perform?
larryllix Posted February 2, 2018 Author Posted February 2, 2018 Sorry, not sure what you just said. Which commands did you perform? $ cat /etc/apt/sources.list.d/mono-official.list $ deb
rccoleman Posted February 2, 2018 Posted February 2, 2018 xKing is just showing you the contents of that file (the second line) by using 'cat'. The second line is not a command, but is just what the file contains (or should contain). Incidentally, I just upgraded to stretch from jessie and have no specific mono-rekated lines or files. I installed Nodelink a couple of years ago, so maybe I'm just using an old version of mono installed in the past. Thanks for the pointer.
xKing Posted February 2, 2018 Posted February 2, 2018 Can you do ls -la /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ ? Not sure why you do 'deb' in command line, it's never been a command. My quote shows the content of a file, not a command you should run.
Bumbershoot Posted February 2, 2018 Posted February 2, 2018 This line below: deb https://download.mono-project.com/repo/debian raspbianstretch main is simply the printed contents of the file /etc/apt/sources.list.d/mono-official.list "deb" simply describes a type of archive for apt-get. It's not a command.
larryllix Posted February 2, 2018 Author Posted February 2, 2018 Can you do ls -la /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ ? Not sure why you do 'deb' in command line, it's never been a command. My quote shows the content of a file, not a command you should run. Sorry. I missed the bash prompt there. After attempting several sudo apt-get dist-upgrades with no success except to go through almost an hour of upgrading packages, and resulting debian 8.0 (I was already running) again, the next update/upgrade updated my mono to v5.8.0.108 but over raspbian 8.0. Now this works and give me... $ cat /etc/apt/sources.list.d/mono-official.list deb http://download.mono-project.com/repo/debian raspbianjessie main I can't figure out why Stretch doesn't like this RPi3. Upgraded just fine in my play RPi3. Thanks!!
Bumbershoot Posted February 2, 2018 Posted February 2, 2018 It looks like your file: /etc/apt/sources.list.d/mono-official.list is still pointing to the release: jessie You can edit that file in two ways to get it to point to release: stretch. Here's a simple way: sudo sed -i 's/jessie/stretch/g' /etc/apt/sources.list.d/mono-official.list Or using a manual editor, just replace "jessie" with "stretch" where you find it: sudo nano /etc/apt/sources.list.d/mono-official.list make a backup of the file, first: sudo cp /etc/apt/sources.list.d/mono-official.list /etc/apt/sources.list.d/mono-official.list.bak

But with some clarifications. 1. Do you think my system is not upgrading that file so just the file definition is wrong? ...Or 2. Do you think this is a permission for my system to upgrade to "stretch"? If 1. then mono has installed another incompatible version as may have been the case before. If 2. then mono should be installed matching the O/S but this will allow me to upgrade to stretch and the correct/matching version of mono. This is based on the mono website offering different installs based on different O/S versions jessie/stretch

And yes, I'll bet you'll get to go through another upgrade process if you change the file. Didn't get that one but I am sure I would be able to do this after and update / upgrade again after. The O/S is very forgiving in some respects. I probably should have found a new SD image and started over. After all this I will have to check my mono installation matches somehow. I should be able to run the mono website install for stretch then. Nothing like a sunny day outside watching lines scroll by. Makes me want to bash something!
