hchain Posted February 10, 2018 Posted February 10, 2018 I lost connections to all my devices and "Restore ISY" failed. Does that mean the PLM is dead?
paulbates Posted February 10, 2018 Posted February 10, 2018 It sounds like it.You can try unplugging the ISY and PLM plug in the PLM, wait 10 seconds, then plug in the ISY when the ISY is back, go in to the admin console, File, restore modem If that does work, sometimes its temporary, give it a few days and keep checking If that does not work, order a new PLM Review and follow these instructions and do not use delete PLM Paul
Brian H Posted February 10, 2018 Posted February 10, 2018 Try powering Off the PLM and ISY994i. Wait for maybe 30 seconds. Power up the PLM and let it initialize. In the Tools Tab. Diagnostics. PLM Info/Status. See if it shows connected. You may also want to do a Link Database count and see how many links are in it. If the count is low. That is one clue the PLM is failing. If a power cycle fixes it for a short time. Another clue the PLM is failing. Same for the LED on the side. Out or real dim PLM is probably failing. How old is it? There should be a sticker on the back with a hardware revision, date code and model number. Most 2413S PLM's have a reputation of failing any time after two years. I believe you may have this already but in case. https://forum.universal-devices.com/topic/13866-repair-of-2413s-plm-when-the-power-supply-fails/
hchain Posted February 14, 2018 Author Posted February 14, 2018 I must have done something wrong in trying things out because now I can't log on the Administrative Console anymore. It just start loading but stops before the password window appears. Only the File menu shows but nothing (like LogOn or Restore ISY) works. I can access the ISY from the browser, although it's very sluggish. Any suggestion on what I should do to open the Console? Thanks,
Michel Kohanim Posted February 14, 2018 Posted February 14, 2018 hchain, Are you certain you are using the correct UI? https://wiki.universal-devices.com/index.php?title=Main_Page#Installing_the_Admin_Console_Icon_on_Your_Desktop With kind regards, Michel
hchain Posted February 14, 2018 Author Posted February 14, 2018 Michel, Yes, I have been using the same shortcut for a while, and certainly the last couple of months. RV
Michel Kohanim Posted February 14, 2018 Posted February 14, 2018 Hi hchain, What's the pattern of lights on the front of the unit as it reboots? With kind regards, Michel
hchain Posted February 14, 2018 Author Posted February 14, 2018 I get the regular pattern, namely: Boot up sequence: Power, RX&TX, momentary blink of Memory/RX and TX, and then Power only However... I restarted the Console to make sure and it worked fine after the reboot. So I closed it and tried to reopen, but I am back to square one, it's not working. The window with the ISY Finder (Name, URL, UUID) shows the correct URL, no error there. Hervé
Michel Kohanim Posted February 15, 2018 Posted February 15, 2018 Hi hchain, If the boot up sequence is indeed what you describe (no error light blinking), then in all likelihood ISY is NOT on the same network as your computer. With kind regards, Michel
hchain Posted February 15, 2018 Author Posted February 15, 2018 I can access the ISY from my browser, so it cannot be the issue. As indicated above, the console connected the first time after the reboot, but not after that. RV
Michel Kohanim Posted February 15, 2018 Posted February 15, 2018 hchain, Are you certain that you are using /994i URL and not /994 for the Admin Console? With kind regards, Michel
hchain Posted February 15, 2018 Author Posted February 15, 2018 I am using the same shortcut for opening the console that I have been using for months. I am not able to check right now but I will tonight. Thanks, Michel.
hchain Posted February 15, 2018 Author Posted February 15, 2018 Michel, I am not sure if my PLM is working. But the PLM, either working or not, or even plugged in or not, should not affect the opening of the Console, correct? Thanks for confirming. Hervé
Michel Kohanim Posted February 16, 2018 Posted February 16, 2018 Hi Hervé, If you can get to ISY via a browser and control things, then the issue is not the PLM. To me, the issue seems to be related to the ISY Finder and, again, I will have to ask you to make sure to clear the cache and reinstall the app using the correct URL (994i and not 994). With kind regards, Michel
hchain Posted February 16, 2018 Author Posted February 16, 2018 I can get to the ISY from a browser and see the devices but I cannot control them as I indicated earlier. I changed the location of the ISY again to have it in front of me when testing, but now both Power and RX are ON which I researched and it seems to mean the PLM is defective. So I am going to replace the PLM and go from there. My PLM is a 2413S, v2.0, 1444 (don't know what that code means). I don't remember replacing it recently, so may be up to five years old (when I installed my Insteon devices). I will post once I have the new PLM installed. Thanks and have a great weekend.
stusviews Posted February 16, 2018 Posted February 16, 2018 The date code indicates that the date of manufacture of the PLM was between October 27, 2014 and November 2, 2014.
