ldeforre Posted March 14, 2018 Posted March 14, 2018 This past Sunday, my 994i programs stopped working. I can control all devices manually AND I can see events from all control devices (motion detector, RemoteLinc II and Keypadlinc) in the event viewer. The 994i is behaving like there is a switch that disables all programs, but all else works fine. My Insteon 2413S was bought in November, 2018 and is V2.3. My third one. Can a failed 2413S cause programs to fail to execute, while all other 994I functions work properly? I hate to purchase another 2413S. Thanks.
lilyoyo1 Posted March 14, 2018 Posted March 14, 2018 Try rebooting your ISY. Also is your plm plugged into a surge protector?
ldeforre Posted March 15, 2018 Author Posted March 15, 2018 Thanks. Have rebooted several times (both the ISY and PLM) and the PLM is plugged directly into the wall. Besides, wouldn't manual control be affected if it were a power line issue? Just wondering if anyone has heard of just programs not working. Seems like an odd failure mode.
oberkc Posted March 15, 2018 Posted March 15, 2018 (edited) On what do you base your understanding that the programs quit working? Lights don't respond? Program log "last run" is incorrect? A failed PLM would not cause the programs not to execute, as far as I know. Is it possible that, somehow, your programs became disabled? Edited March 15, 2018 by oberkc
ldeforre Posted March 15, 2018 Author Posted March 15, 2018 Thanks. Programs are not disabled (no disabled icon in front of each program) If I right click and execute "Run Then" on any program, nothing happens. Evidenced in the event viewer and the device itself. Also, I have some remotelincs - mainly for testing - I see the remote link button push event in the event viewer, but no corresponding program actions. I have one button that turns on 3 outside flood lights. I see the button push event but no events to turn on the outside lights. I can, however, manually turn on and off each of the 3 outside lights. My system has been very stable since replacement of the PLM in November, until Sunday - something to do with the time change? The system time is correct. Very strange.
stusviews Posted March 15, 2018 Posted March 15, 2018 Select a brief program. Disable it. Recreate the program form scratch, Do not copy. That's the reason for starting with a brief program. Execute "Run Then." Any success? If so, trigger the program. What's the result?
ldeforre Posted March 15, 2018 Author Posted March 15, 2018 OK - Stayed home from work today to get my Insteon system working - its working now. Not sure what I did. Seems like I need to spend major hours each year to keep this system working. I can't imagine selling my house and them requiring them to put in the same effort to keep it running. Tried my older, unreliable PLM with similar (failed) results. Deleted the PLM and restored. Restored ISY from backup, restored all devices, etc. No joy. I did notice that in the top level program folder called "My Programs", there is an "If" condition that has to be met for all programs below it to run. It was set to a condition that was reminiscent of a condition for a deleted device (forgot what the exact message was). I set it to "No Condition". But that ddin't fix it. I then restored all devices once again and my programs now work. Last week my programs worked and as of Sunday they didn't - I didn't change anything, so why the sudden failure? stusviews: I didn't' try your suggestion since the system now works. A good suggestion, however. From your mini-bio, you are a man of many talents. Impressive.
