Scenes

I'm using the UD Admin console.

When I create a scene, then when I add a device to the scene the Confirm Scene dialog flashes and then is gone.

I've found no way to "set" the scene. For example, set the devices to 50%.

In addition, how does one trigger the scene? I don't have any keypads, etc. just plug in modules (and misc. X10 receive only devices)

Triggering scenes are based on how you set them up. Many people including myself use keypads to trigger their scenes. However, it can be a switch, remote, Google home, Alexa. That part is up to the user.

In regards to configuring scenes, if you click on the scene itself, you will see all of the devices in the middle of the screen which is where you do your configuration.

Hmm, I don't have any of those trigger devices.. When you say switch does that refer to the switch, say on a plug in module (zwave in my case)?

When I click on the scene I get this:

Scene-1.png.a3de68925ac1c48859a71130bc520f72.png

If I click on a device in the scene I get:

SceneDevice-1.png.96b1f0f522bc464e5942834ef143f436.png

If I change the state here, it simply changes the current state of the device. (If I change the device from the ISY folder, it just updates the current state in the scene.)

drmacro,

I will try to answer a few of your questions.

-if your scenes do not have any devices defined as "controller", then the only way to activate the scene is via program, or mobile app (or directly via the admin panel).  Many insteon devices can act as controllers, including all switches, motion sensor, IOLinc, and (I believe) some plug-in modules.

-Don't worry about setting the responder levels initially.  These can be adjusted after the scene is created.  From the admin panel, select the scene, then modify the responder levels in the main window.  I do not believe zwave or x-10 can be programmed with responder levels, only insteon devices (may also be ISY-994 software version dependent).  Also, I don't believe insteon relay (on/off) devices have any concept of responder levels.  If, however, you have an insteon dimmable device in a scene, you would see the responder levels and where they can be adjusted.

- depending on your software version, I don't believe you can include x-10 or zwave as scene controllers.

Ok, for the moment I have no controllers.

But I can activate a scene from a program, and I can see that work.

But, unless I'm missing something, I can control the level of zwave dimmers, but, when one is added to a scene (as a responder) there is no way to define the responder level for the scene.

And, there is no way to add a zwave device as anything but a responder (i.e. it can't be a controller)

My ISY is current;y at 4.6.2.

Does 5.x "enhance" any of that?

I can't say how zwave dimmers behave in 5.0.12 as I use Insteon for my light switches. However, I can add my zwave sensors and Insteon devices to scenes and they work as a normal scene would. Ditto with my Insteon devices and zwave outlets.

Are you saying you can add a zwave outlet to a scene and set, in the scene, whether it is to be on/off and not set the current state to what has been chosen for the scene?

Even with Zwave outlets, when added to a scene, I find no way to set the value they are to have for that scene.

Selecting the device in the scene is just like selecting it in the ISY tree and controlling it. (i.e if I select it in the scene and click on, the device comes on)

Im using 5.0.12 now not 4.6.2. In my setup, I have a button on my kpl that controls my air purifiers. When I turn that button on, they turn on. When I turn it off, it turns off. These scenes however are turned on/off automatically by the isy when certain conditions are met.

Same thing with my motion sensors. Because there are no windows in my half baths, my Insteon switches are in a scene with my zwave motion sensors. When tripped, the lights turn on and when no motion is sensed, they turn off. This is done with scenes and not programs.
