FYI ... I did contact Smarthome on the issue with temperature values being way out of whack, and they basically said the Motion Sensor II is not designed to provide any temperature readings.  Oh ... and if I was having any issues to do a factory reset.  :-)

Really?!?! :blink::angry:

Yes ... not joking.  That's pretty much the entirety of the feedback I received. Although I think the person who was handling the support line sounded like they were fairly new, so it's possible this topic was more advanced than they were prepared to address.

Either way, I'm not planning to use the Motion Sensor II devices as temperature sensors anywhere any time soon.  Would have been pretty cool if they could do that reliably, but the ones I have continue to indicate the temperature is between -19.5 and -24 degrees Fahrenheit.  And it definitely isn't that cold outside in Virginia this time of year. Or any time of year for that matter.

Motion sensor II now has sensitivity settings for motion.

Is lower or higher more sensitive?

I'm trying to figure this one out as well... anyone know?

I've also submitted a request to SmartHome about the Luminance reading updates.  On USB power I can query an MSII and it updates.  On Battery it's a hit or miss as in sometimes it will query fine and then sometimes nothing or I get an error.

Here's the current response I've received about teh Luminance reporting:

While the function is available to the sensor itself, it is not actually officially supported or advertised at an Insteon level. I know in their alpha Software UDI opted to report that data, along with temperature data from the internal multi sensor.

You are correct in that it will update when the motion sensor is put int linking mode, but I do not believe it reports outside of that. You may want to check with UDI to see if there may be a way to pull it in as part of an automated query process.

Has anyone determined if Is lower or higher more sensitive?

On the MS I 7 rapid taps on the linking button would send the dark signal On/Off without any sensing delay. I don't know if they kept that feature. Most didn't know about it.
This always helped me test all the features before placing them back on their higher mounting perches.

I played around a bit, and none seemed to adjust sensitivity.

FWIW, my temperatures are pretty accurate for a PIR device, but I only pull temps for USB powered devices, and use good USB power sources for them.

Hi All,

A day spent working with the MS II and I have a question for the group.

1. I have 2, actually 3 MS II that I'm linking and working with some programs.  I'm on my 2nd round of factory reset and starting over with the entire process and I've noticed that when I link the 2nd MS II the 1st MS II is updated also.

2. My question, is what is ISY doing?  I would think that linking the 2nd MS II a separate ID wouldn't have anything to do with the 1st.

3. During my 1st round of linking and programming, I noticed that when I changed options on 1 MS II the other was also updated.  It almost seemed like they got lost in a loop when one was updated the other updated itself and vice versa.  So the process of changing options on one was painful because of the updating of the other.

4. This update of the 1st also happens when I change the name of the 2nd, seems like any changes to one updates the other.

Any ideas?
