October 1, 20187 yr @watson524 , "I swear if it's not one thing it's another.' You're lucky it's only another...It's usually 2 or 3 or 4 others for me!!
October 1, 20187 yr Author LOL! Well this "issue" was short lived at least. Tho the big 2 pole 60a main breaker for the hot tub wasn't tripped, I went and flipped it off and on and it brought the hot tub back on line. We tested to make sure the light switch still worked and it does so it wasn't anything to do with the relay after all (tho I still may get another 15a breaker and put it on its own because I have plenty of space so why not).
October 1, 20187 yr Keep in mind that circuit breakers do not stop the propagation of noise or any other electrical issue -- the noise from a noisy device will happily cross from the originating circuit to every other circuit in the house. It does get a bit attenuated in strength as it passes through the panel, but that's mostly because of other things, not the breakers themselves. The point is that you may solve nothing from an insteon point-of-view by putting that relay on its own circuit. I have an X10 Pro XPF filter inline on a large noisy pump -- this may be the solution for that relay. They're expensive, but you can find them on Amazon.
October 1, 20187 yr Author Interesting, I believe I have an XPF (at least it looks just like that) in both houses that run smart devices but I have them in the panels to bridge the two legs of power.
October 1, 20187 yr The XPF is a 20 amp X10 filter. Used to filter a heavy load or a whole circuit. It does not couple phases. It is as about the same size as a XPCR. Maybe an it is an X10PRO XPCR repeater. If it is used as an X10 phase coupler/repeater. It is a XPCR or similar, connected between the phases and it will not couple Insteon power line signals between the phases. Some X10 style repeaters. Mistakenly see the end of an Insteon message as X10 and try to repeat the bogus X10 command. Edited October 1, 20187 yr by Brian H Correct information.
