jkraus Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 Hi, I am using the isy99, quite successfully, but still a little confused what is stored where. 1) The programs are store in the ISY, correct? 2) Scenes are stored in each Inteon device or the PLM? 3) Ramp rates are stored in the Insteon devices? If I ever wanted to do a complete restore (load a saved ISY backup) what is the procedure? Can I just restore or do I have to somehow clear everything first?
MikeB Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 1 - Yes, programs are stored and run from the ISY. 2 - Scenes are store on the Insteon devices themselves, and can run independent of the ISY or PLM. 3 - Ramp rates are stored on the respective Insteon devices. Restore procedure differs depending on the situation. - If you need to go back to a previous backup but no scenes or device changes have been made since, you can simply restore your backup and continue working. - If you have made device changes since your last backup, you would want to restore the backup then run a restore on your devices to return them to the state of the last ISY backup for consistency.
jkraus Posted May 5, 2009 Author Posted May 5, 2009 Thanks Michael! So nothing is stored in the PLM? I though you had to do something if you swapped PLMs like restore it. Joe
MikeB Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 Yes, there are links stored in the PLM, primarily so that the PLM "hears" device activity and informs the ISY - so the ISY knows when you turn a light on. If you ever need to replace your PLM you should run a RESTORE MODEM after powering up with your new PLM.
