Ecobee problems

Hell.

My ecobee stat broke down and had to get a replacement.

Sometime during last 3 weeks with a  thermostat down Nodlink stopped working.

When I try to get new pin in the web display I see:

2018-11-01 03:01:36 - Web Request Invalid: /isylink/nodes/n001_ecobee1/query
2018-11-01 12:17:39 - Ecobee Get Error - Timeout [ecobee1]
2018-11-01 12:17:39 - Ecobee Timer Error - Expecting element 'root' from namespace ''.. Encountered 'None'  with name '', namespace ''. [ecobee1]
2018-11-01 12:17:51 - Ecobee Get Error - Timeout [ecobee1]
2018-11-01 12:17:51 - Ecobee Timer Error - Expecting element 'root' from namespace ''.. Encountered 'None'  with name '', namespace ''. [ecobee1]

Nodelink is running in a docker container on Unraid server and web display reports:

2018-10-31 12:42:47 - ISY NodeLink Server v0.9.20 started
2018-10-31 12:42:47 - OS: Linux Tower 4.18.15-unRAID #1 SMP Thu Oct 18 16:39:44 PDT 2018 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
2018-10-31 12:42:47 - Mono version: 4.2.1 (Debian 4.2.1.102+dfsg2-7ubuntu4)
2018-10-31 12:42:47 - Mono version: Recommend moving to >= 4.6 (see latest how-to)

P.S In last 3 weeks I've also updated ISY to 5.0.14

Any idea what to do, keep in mind I'm a newbie when it comes to Linux.

Thanks

Robert

Just some shots in the dark but....

You have a line that recommends you to upgrade mono.
Try setting your ecobee node (in NodeLink tab), and Main tab (in NodeLink)  to debug, and then reboot NodeLink and "Request Pin" again.

Hi.

Tried debug mode- still no sign of pin.

Even if I knew how to update mono I don't know if I can.

Unraid server OS does not run on full blown Linux.

I've ask for help updating mono on Unraid forum but no replies so far.

Do you have docker setup on your unraid?

If you run on a docker mono is easy to control.

Yes it runs in  docker.

The reply for asking for help on Unraid forum:

"Unraid does not have mono as part of its base install!     The issue will be the version of mono installed inside the container.   It is up to the container maintainer to make such an update and has nothing to do with UnRAID itself."

So u are running it under docker.

You need to uodate your mono and then NodeLink containers.

Ha. Don't know if you noticed on my earlier post but that is easier said than done.

Don't know what to tell you.  I don't use unraid so I really don't know how it implements docker.  How'd you set it up in the first place?

Going down the same path. Using UnRaid for Docker and need to update mono. I will post here if/when I get it worked out. If you get it operational, please post an update.

I ran into the mono version issue as well. I am still not sure how to update it, but io_guy's info was helpful in clarifying that it needs to be done from the docker, not within unRaid. I actually found a usable docker before figuring out how to update mono. If you could not get a docker running, message me and I may be able to help you stumble through the path I went.

At the core of unRaid, it is a NAS. On top of storage management, the environment has some pretty user-friendly controls for hosting Dockers and VMs. There is a community that supports developing templates for unRaid Docker installs. Basically, the docker templates fill in the details for directory structure, paths and networking. You can pull straight dockers into unraid without templates, but filling in the details for some "uninitiated" users can be difficult.

I am great with networking, virtualization and storage management, but still new and ignorant when it comes to dockers. This leaves me stumbling when a community template for unRaid does not work as expected. I'm working to get a better understanding and hope to at least be able to better diagnose the templates in the future.

If you ever look into it an need a test case, I would be happy run a few docker trials.

Shovelhead,

I'm very familiar with docker and use about 20 containers in my house.  What I can't help with is how Unraid plays with docker.

A dockerfile for NodeLink is available.  How it is implemented on Unraid, don't know.

I had no intention of implying you were unfamiliar with docker. I was just noting how Unraid has community templates for dockers and the lack of support can be difficult for "Docker Newbies" such as myself. I am not docker savvy enough to know the differences between implementations in QNAP, Unraid or any other hosted environment. Hopefully, I will soon.

I did build my new home server way over spec of current need and I am happy to Guinea Pig for the sake of learning and helping. That's why I mentioned being a test case. I am sure unraid will be a sub-topic in here in the future.

I have run back the thread you just linked multiple times this week. I have spent a lot more time than usual bouncing around UD forums over the past few days. You appear in many of the threads that's come up in my searches. Your knowledge, support and contributions are appreciated. Your posts and links have been very helpful.

Appologize if my tone came wrong, I'm not trying to be confrontational at all.

Just mean I have absolutely no idea how Unraid treats dockers.  It's very straightforward from the command line (the commands I had in the link). It gets confusing with the NAS frontends.  I use a Synology and it just adds a layer of confusion on what portions of docker are/are-not supported.  Unraid will likely have similar quirks.
