ArunGupta2014 Posted November 26, 2018 Posted November 26, 2018 One of the motion sensors was not displaying status. The status box was blank whether or not motion was sensed. The sensor itself was working correctly in that it was controlling the micro ON/OFF. So, out of curiosity, I right clicked on the sensor Selected Diagnostics and Query PLM Engine. After that, a green symbol appeared against the sensor and is not going away. The sensor did other weird things and took me through a nightmarish scenario, but that is all cured now. The green symbol persists. What does it mean? Does it need to be removed? If yes, how? Thanks...
paulbates Posted November 26, 2018 Posted November 26, 2018 The green icon means that the ISY thinks that it has updates for the devices in that scene. Its not always necessary to address it.... as you found out, the icon can exist and things can work normally To make the icon go away, you need to right-click on one of the devices with the icon and and pick restore device.. However, there is a catch for wireless devices. You'll have to put each Motion Sensor in linking mode by pressing its set button, one at a time Looks like there is only one sensor, so it shouldn't be too difficult to open the battery door, put it in set mode and Restore device Paul
ArunGupta2014 Posted November 26, 2018 Author Posted November 26, 2018 I was just working on renaming devices and found that ISY is trying to write to this motion sensor every time I rename a device. For some reason, now ISY is complaining that it is unable to communicate with this motion sensor and is showing an exclamation mark against the device. I will try to restore the device and see what happens. I did check the battery, but it is showing good. I have a second motion sensor and I did the same steps (Diagnostics->Query PLM Engine) and it is now also showing the green mark. Every time I rename a device, ISY is writing to the second motion sensor also, but it is not throwing any error. So, two identical sensors, same steps done to each of them, one is throwing error second is working fine. Not sure what is going on.

I’ve found the Insteon ms to be temperamental sometimes when the battery gets low. Factory reset the one in question, put it in set mode and Restore Device one more timePaulSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
HAMILD15 Posted November 26, 2018 Posted November 26, 2018 I have had the same issue ....unable to communicate with explanation marks by the Motion Sensor. I have tested the new batter (8.9V), attempted a "restore device", and tried to "write updates to device". I have two sensors that consistently contain this message, while two others rarely receive the message.. Are there any other suggestions to eliminate this problem?
