Upgrade aded a new wrinkle

I've just updated my 994I from a firmware 4.7.3 to 5.0.14.  In my prior setup I had a program that would fast-flash every connected light in our home, both inside and out, to indicate an emergency situation, and to easily direct responding EMT's (especially if it were dark).   This loop (See below) was set to run for a period of time but could readily be cancelled via a "Turn off Panic" comment to "Alexa".  

When I tried to test this program today, I discovered that there was NO way to stop the execution short of waiting until it completed it's count.  Alexa commands didn't work, nor was I able to stop it via the Administrative Console.  

Since I'm betting that it's a timing thing in 5.0.14 (That release must run more efficiently), can someone suggest a programming workaround that will let me stop the action prematurely?

You need at least one wait between your fast on/off lines.

Your pounding of the Insteon channel will tie up the comm protocol as well as make it almost impossible for your ISY to handle any other requests on the I/O channels.

I doubt the v5 made this any worse. The speed of the ISY engine was improved somewhat when v5 was released.

I do the same for every light and my doorbell for security scare.
A scene works more efficiently for this because devices don't Ack back, tying up Insteon comms as much.

My emergency lights are ALL in a scene.  Makes it a it easier to add a new light to the flashers.  The doorbell is a unique idea though.  I'm going to give that a  try.

LOL. The more confusion you can create, the faster you can get the kids running out and away.

You hear horror stories about spray painted murals and water falls down staircases.

 

You can't stop them from getting in but you can attempt to limit the length of stay.

 

You may want to limit your alarms to about 40 minutes before giving up for false alarms.

 

I use 12 Insteon MSes allowing one random false every ten minutes sending a notification and a second zone triggers the works.

 

I have had many false while away due to headlights? and dying batteries.
