An issue after PLM replacement

Hi guys,

Had to replace a PLM and since I had a less than solid backup I had to Restore each device.

Not as bad as it sounds, it made me go through the ISY and delete junk programs I never used anymore.

But I have a KPL button that's supposed to trigger the night scene program and doesn't.

Other buttons on the same KPL trigger their scenes and programs no problem.

And the night program works if I tell Alexa to trigger it, if I trigger it in the ISY GUI, and if I trigger it on the Alexa iPhone app.

I also tried changing the program slightly, saving it, and changing it back to see if that would work but no luck.

Any ideas?

Did you turn Off the ISY994i and PLM. Then connect the new PLM and power up the ISY994i? So the new PLM and six digit Insteon ID was found.

Then a Restore Modem (PLM) from the Files Menu . So the replacement PLM's six digit ID was put into all the modules in use? Replacing the old PLM.

Yes, I did all that. And I've gone through other programs and scenes on the same KPL and they all work.

Just this one scene doesn't.

The KPL button (which is in non toggle off) appropriately lights and then shuts of the LED.

Everything works great.

Except for the fact that the program itself doesn't get triggered only when I try to trigger it with the KPL button.

Right click on the device in the admin console and select "Restore" It sounds like you have a missing link in your house. :)

Hi Larry, I will try that today.

Here's something odd.

I have a scene that is missing a light in the GUI.

On the side the light is there. At the top the light is there but where it shows the On Level and Ramp Rate the light isn't there.

I only discovered this because the light in question didn't turn on or shut off when the scene was triggered.

I imagine at worst I can either remove the device from the scene and re add it or restore device.

I just wanted to mention it here to get some feedback.

Also, when I go to the Alexa browser interface under smart home, sometimes the devices tab doesn't show.

I see Groups and Scenes but not devices.

Any ideas on that?

I use a small laptop screen and none of my devices show at all. A larger screen shows all the devices in scenes though. Perhaps the 'some relative to the top and some objects relative to the bottom' problem is affecting you also.

With the Alexa app. I am not sure where you see tabs.

So I've tried moving the program that doesn't work on the KPL G button to the same KPL but to a different button. The program still doesn't run.

The program does run on another KPL altogether.

When I press the KPL G button it flashes twice and the LED on the set/pull tab flashes red once.

I'm sure that means something but I don't know what.

Not sure about the button flashing twice. The single red blink from the set LED means one of the linked responders did not respond to the keypad. Maddeningly there is no way to know which one if there's more than one (the ISY is one). I would try, in this order

  • Factory resetting the keypad, right-clicking and restore the device. Retest
  • If that didn't work, turn on event viewer for level 3 and capture what happens when you push the keypad's button in question, G, and post here

Potentially the problem is that the keypad can't reach the PLM and/or some other devices. There's a way to tweak the retries of each button, but that's a last resort and not recommended.

Hi Paul,

Factory reset and restore seems to have fixed it. Thanks. I should have thought of that. I restored already after I replaced the PLM but never thought to factory reset.

One of the devices in the scene didn't turn on but I have to check it out before I bring out to the forum.
