jkraus Posted May 29, 2019 Posted May 29, 2019 (edited) I know this is a tough one, but every several months (not regular intervals to my knowledge) I get random turn on of several of my scenes. It all happens at once. I cannot pinpoint the error with my event log nor my program summary. Last time it happened I remove an old program that may have been the culprit, but alas it happened again today. I know this is a tough one, but anyone see this issue? In other word does Insteon, by nature of RF just sometimes "glitch"? Today, it MIGHT have happened when someone entered the garage and the motion sensor went off, but I do not see any issue with the motion sensor program, nor like I said, it happens only once in several months Edited May 29, 2019 by jkraus
Techman Posted May 29, 2019 Posted May 29, 2019 Take a look at this link https://wiki.universal-devices.com/index.php?title=INSTEON_Random_All_On_Events Another possibility is that you have a program that's turning on your scenes. 1
jkraus Posted May 30, 2019 Author Posted May 30, 2019 Thanks Techman, this MAY have been the problem, made changes and will see! " "You don't have any programs that use Control for a device and then send a Scene command to a scene which includes the same physical device. So different buttons from the same KPL are considered one device"
larryllix Posted May 30, 2019 Posted May 30, 2019 (edited) I had a random problem with lights turning themselves on for about a year. Finally I recognised the pattern as one of my scenes. After digging through programs each occurrence for months I found errors in the error log after some Humidifier On (a OnOff plug-in module) commands. I unplugged the module and plugged it back in and it hasn't done it for about two years now. It seems my OnOffLinc module was sending out a scene On command (well noise, interpreted as a scene on) instead of an ACK occasionally. The module was not in any scene at all. apostolakisl Posted May 30, 2019 Posted May 30, 2019 I had an issue with a couple of random "all on" events. This was rather surprising when your entire house turns on for seemingly no reason. This was a well known issue that to the best of my knowledge was never fully worked out. However, for whatever reason, it seems to have stopped. Not only me, but I don't see that topic on the forum any more.
jkraus Posted May 31, 2019 Author Posted May 31, 2019 Thanks! Yes, I think the scene that cause the problem has an on/off module in it. Is is a motion sensor scene to turn on a on/off module to turn on the garage lights and I think the "all on" happened when someone went into the garage. , so I will unplug and replug. Glad I am not the only one
