lip Posted June 1, 2019 Posted June 1, 2019 Hi, I've never been able to reliably have communication with this outlet. I actually only bought it to help with the z-wave network for my schlage locks that sometimes do not have a great signal but in the end, I always have comm problems with this outlet. I get a "Can't communicate with..." error when I try to change the state from within the admin console. What do I need to show you all to better help me. Thanks so much in advance.
lip Posted June 1, 2019 Author Posted June 1, 2019 I probably didn't set this up correct. I reset the device (pressed the button on the outlet until it flashed yellow and then red)...added a z-wave device in isy admin console...pressed the button until flashed yellow...it sees it in isy but then nothing shows up...I got to tools->sync nodes and then it finds two unresponsive devices ZW 005 and 006 Can someone help me restart from the beginning with this device?
DennisC Posted June 1, 2019 Posted June 1, 2019 If you didn't exclude it before trying to add it, start over. Try to exclude the device twice before adding it back in.
lilyoyo1 Posted June 1, 2019 Posted June 1, 2019 In addition to excluding first, how many zwave devices do you have? Communication errors generally means weak network so you may need additional devices
lip Posted June 2, 2019 Author Posted June 2, 2019 Hi I have two battery powered Schlage locks that mostly work well and the one leviton wall plug
lilyoyo1 Posted June 2, 2019 Posted June 2, 2019 Most likely your issues are Communication issues. With only having 1 repeater device it's simply not enough
lip Posted June 2, 2019 Author Posted June 2, 2019 Thanks. Is it not strange that the Schlage locks work? What do you suggest I purchase? Another one of these plugs which I guess are repeaters?
lilyoyo1 Posted June 2, 2019 Posted June 2, 2019 No it's not strange. Zwave is RF so the same things that plague other wireless devices plague it as well. It's like dead spots with your WiFi. I prefer embedded devices since I don't like wall worts so I personally would get a couple more. I prefer having more than I need. This allows for multiple pathways should a device fail Because they are embedded their range is less than plug in devices which can also be moved around to to find best coverage
lip Posted June 4, 2019 Author Posted June 4, 2019 Thanks so much Before I run out and buy more of these can anyone confirm if the devices are ok or not?
lilyoyo1 Posted June 4, 2019 Posted June 4, 2019 I'm not sure what you're asking. The only thing anyone can confirm is that the isy works with them. We're not in your house to know if they are operable or not. The fact that you only have 1 repeater on your network will cause the problems that you are having. You can either move the outlet closer to the isy for confirmation that it works then purchase additional units or get additional units, add, them to the isy and install.
