Internal ISY Data Logger

Recommended Posts

I have run across several posts that refer to an internal function for logging data on the ISY.  Search as I may I can not find a tutorial or information on how to access or set it up.  There is also mention of a program by IO Guy, but I am not clear if this is the same as what is being referred to as an internal data logger.  There also is mention of a program from Mwareman for graphing data collected, is this still a viable program, if so where does one find it?  There are several programs referred to in postings for one thing or another, not referring to data logging, is there a repository where all these can be found?

Help on using the data logging function would be most apprecaited.

Thanks

Tom

The Administrative Console. In the Tools menu. Has a Log and Error Log choice. It will generate a Log and Error Log.  Since you last used the menu choices to clear it out. Then you can do with it as you want.

I kind of remember seeing a reference to another log program or function but don't have any further data on it.

Let's start with what you mean by data, I assume its tracking device , variable and program actions? If yes, there is ISY Logger in the Nodelink Nodeserver. Its a separate Nodeserver App, eg not Polyglot, and the ISY Logger can be installed as part if it. With ISY Logger, you can define the devices, variables and programs you want tracked and it can

  • Show them on its web page log window
  • Save to a file
  • Send to a unix syslog facility (along with other Nodelink messages)

Its been a while since I used it, at one point programs were logged by their number not name. You'll need to set it up, experiment and see if it meets what you are trying to accomplish

This is information on setting up nodelink which has 20 different devices in it including ISY Logger. Its pretty simple to use. You can select programs, variables and devices to track. You don't want to have more than you need as its subcribing to the ISY and could affect performance. Below is the setup page with a Program, Device and Variable example.

ISY has a built in data logger that can record data as it changes dynamically or on a periodic timed schedule.

Mwareman wrote some code to create data graphic charting from this...all stored inside ISY memory.

Look for his thread describing the technique and code to do it.

This is one of the posts I am referring to.  I am aware of the logs in AC, just wasn't sure if that is what is being refered to.  THere are several other posts, I will look for and they refer to data logger built in to ISY.  I only run PGC NS, don't have a RPi,.
