Without an ISY I doubt it will even run. So this could be my problem all along? Wow. I assumed I could at least log in using the https address. Geez. I feel dumb and like I wasted a lot of the members’ time on this forum. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

One of endearing the characteristics of this forum is that it's newbie friendly. You won't be one for long, once you get your ISY up and running... EDIT: Remember, you'll need to purchase either the Network Module or the UDI Portal in order to get Polyglot running on your ISY.
smarthome_newbie Posted August 5, 2019 Author Posted August 5, 2019 I'm embarrassed to admit that was the problem. It's working fine now. I feel bad for all the trouble everyone went to in helping me, especially Simplextech. It was greatly appreciated and I I've learned a lot! I'll be back with more questions soon. ?

Do you recommend the Network Module or the UDI Portal?

If you're only going to need local network access, then the Network Module is a single purchase, and you own it. On the other hand, if you want to remotely interact with your ISY through a proxy, and/or if you think you might need to use a Polyglot Cloud node server (such as the two you are interested in using), and/or you want to use Amazon Echo (Alexa) or Google Home to interact with your ISY, then the UDI Portal is the way to go. It's a subscription, but it's inexpensive. I use the UDI Portal as we interact with Alexa frequently to set ISY conditions in our home. If you use the UDI Portal, then you can't use the MobiLinc Portal, which has a complementary feature set (minus Polyglot Cloud). For my 2¢, I think the UDI Portal is a great bargain.
paulbates Posted August 5, 2019 Posted August 5, 2019 I agree with @Bumbershoot. The portal is turning out to be a swiss army knife for me too... More secure remote access for the admin console and ability to run my Home Automation Dashboard pages, geofencing and alexa access... all while opening zero router ports. Paul

I don't think you made that clear and nobody asked. That's what newbies do and why the forum is here. Don't feel bad. If we didn't like helping we wouldn't be here either. LOL I have been there too. The ISY Portal has a redirect into the basic ISY parameters. You can do most everything but edit programs and Network Resources. It's not pretty but always works without any opening any security holes in your router.

Not a waste of time but a "Learning Experience" right? It's prompted to look into providing remote support and in building a pre-installed rpi image.... so there's fruit from this!
