Steves Posted October 30, 2019 Posted October 30, 2019 Hi: I'm having trouble upgrading firmware from 4.7.3 - (on a MAC) I have ISY launcher installed, when I download the firmware upgrade it downloads a file folder called insteon 5 - inside the folder are three folders - Code, Def, Web. when I try to upgrade the only file that gives me the open option is a file called insteon.img. If I try and load it, it runs a java script and then stops and does nothing. Have I got the right file? or what is going on? Help?
Bumbershoot Posted October 30, 2019 Posted October 30, 2019 It sounds like you're unzipping the file. It shouldn't be unzipped. The current file on my Mac is called: Insteon_5.0.16.zip (6,553,694 bytes (7.4 MB on disk)). You install the firmware upgrade from the zip file.
Steves Posted October 30, 2019 Author Posted October 30, 2019 Hi. Thanks for the quick reply! Not intentionally unzipping. The files are downloading unzipped automatically as far as I can tell (no zip extension on the insteon folder) . Anyway to prevent this?

Steves Posted October 30, 2019 Author Posted October 30, 2019 Oh, Think I got it... Had to download using "download as" function. Thanks!
Steves Posted October 30, 2019 Author Posted October 30, 2019 whoops, one more - what is the original password - I read that I have to re-do login password but I'm not sure what the original is

Steves Posted October 30, 2019 Author Posted October 30, 2019 Thanks,,, did a backup - stuck on password - my old password doesn't do it and neither does admin - admin. ??
Steves Posted October 30, 2019 Author Posted October 30, 2019 Yup, "authorization failed" for login isy is reachable and continues to run house program but I can't log in

This should work. EDIT: From the release notes: Important User/Password changes: - If your current version is 5.0.7 or earlier, then after installing 5.0.8 or later your userid and password will be reset back to the system default. - If you restore a backup created from 5.0.7 or earlier, your userid and password will be reset back to the system default. - If you downgrade from version 5.0.8 or later to version 5.0.7 or earlier then after installing version 5.0.7 or earlier, you will have to Factory Reset the ISY and optionally install a backup taken in that version or earlier.
Steves Posted October 30, 2019 Author Posted October 30, 2019 Yup, looks like I'm hooped - login not recognized or working with any password. Admin console and dashboard come up but "failed authenticating ISY" is my reply. - time to reset isy to defaults and start over?

You might try this: https://wiki.universal-devices.com/index.php?title=Resetting_Your_ISY Reset Username and Password to Defaults Use a sharp object to push and hold in the Reset Button till the RX, TX, Mem, Error lights start blinking (every second) Continue holding for another 5 seconds till the RX, TX, Mem, Error lights turn on/off consecutively (RX -> Tx -> Mem -> Error) Release
Steves Posted October 31, 2019 Author Posted October 31, 2019 SOLVED! - Thanks very much! up a running.
