Texas Smart Meter web site announces change to meter monitoring device hookup responsibilities. SmartMeterTexas.com will no longer do it on their portal. It seems the TDU is now responsible for device connections to the HAN (Home Area Network). This affects ISY ZS users and other 3rd party smart meter connected devices, but there is no need to make any changes to existing system connections. New connections will be made by the TDU as listed in the email.

The email reads:

Dear Customer,

Due to a change in Smart Meter Texas functionality recently approved by the Public Utility Commission of Texas, the ?In-Home Device? functionality currently available through Smart Meter is scheduled to be changed on December 7, 2019. Smart Meter Texas will no longer support provisioning In-Home Devices to Smart Meter Texas accounts or entering into In-Home Device service agreements as of that date. All existing In-Home Devices provisioned will remain active but will be supported by your utility. To contact your utility concerning support for your HAN device use the following contact information

CNP : han.support@centerpointenergy.com
Oncor : hansupport@oncor.com
AEP : hansupport@aep.com
TNMP : hansupport@tnmp.com

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this change may cause. Thank you for being a Smart Meter Texas user.

Regards,
Smart Meter Texas Team

Another announcement from SMTx. Notice the addition of an API, I wonder how delayed it will be?

Due to recent approval by the Public Utility Commission of Texas, Smart Meter Texas will be releasing new functionality on December 10, 2019. A few key highlights of improvements and changes are the following:

  • Ability to receive your data via an Application Programming Interface (API)
  • Ability to receive your energy data via email
  • Enhanced mobile awareness
  • Enhanced to display 24 months of data
  • Improved access to generation information
  • An improved customer experience with a new website look and feel

Watch for future emails for additional information and action required.

Thank you for being a Smart Meter Texas user.

Hi Leon,

Thanks so very much for the additional info:

  • Ability to receive your data via an Application Programming Interface (API) = Green Button. 1 day old. Who needs a one day old data?
  • Ability to receive your energy data via email = Again, it's old data
  • Enhanced mobile awareness = This might be interesting if it uses real time data
  • Enhanced to display 24 months of data = Boring!
  • Improved access to generation information = Very interesting!
  • An improved customer experience with a new website look and feel = Boring!

With kind regards,
Michel
