Polyglot + Zwave noobie

Featured Replies

Posted

I have been a faithful ISY user for 11 years, but recently moved to a new home and elected to do a wholesale factory reset and started back down automation lane.  I decided to try some Zwave devices and I’m trying to learn what I can do with polyglot cloud.  So here are my two noobie questions:

1.  When I added a GE Zwave light switch, the ISY created three devices: the light switch, scene 1, and scene 2.  The light switch works fine, but I just don’t understand what the two scenes are for.   I welcome pointers to other articles or the wiki, but I did try and search them before bothering everyone.

2.  When I log into the polyglot cloud via the portal, my ISY shows up but it says unmanaged and when I go to the store and attempt to install a nodeserver, the screen jumps back to the dashboard and nothing appears to change.   I am sure I am missing something obvious, but I tried the step by step directions and couldn’t make any progress.

Some of the GE switches include multi-tap capability for on/off which would be the scene 1/2 that the ISY would create.  Those scene nodes could then be used in programs.

New toy and wife training! Thank you!

Yeah I tried that with the HomeSeer multi-scene capable switches with the tap 1,2,3,4,5 up or down.... uhhh...no... :)

KeyPads with labels are soooo much easier! :)

I feel you. All that makes things much more complicated. Needs to be natural for a good experience
