TrojanHorse Posted January 24, 2020 Posted January 24, 2020 Anyone know if these work with ISY? I’m looking at getting an older used T1800 to replace my Insteon 2441th. I’m getting really flaky response on the Insteon thermostat. Is anyone still using these on ISY and will the T1800 be any better? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

TrojanHorse Posted January 24, 2020 Author Posted January 24, 2020 Thanks. I think there are 2 models - 1 has Insteon built in I believe. That’s the type I’m looking at. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Brian H Posted January 25, 2020 Posted January 25, 2020 I remember the T1700,T1800,T1900. That could be used with Insteon using the 2441V adapter. I don't remember seeing a T1700,T1800 or T1900 version with Insteon support built in.

Brian H Posted January 25, 2020 Posted January 25, 2020 I did some searching and found the 2491T1E and 2491T7E. In my searching. It was an Insteon enabled thermostat with Insteon support. It is in the drop down list of modules for adding a module. Cat 05, Sub Cat 0E https://cache.insteon.com/documentation/2491txe-en.pdf If anyone is interested. It is in the FCC Database SBP4715. Under the 4715 number. It was part of the Smart Pro Line from Smarthome.
BCreekDave Posted January 25, 2020 Posted January 25, 2020 T1 is a one day programmable and T7 is a 7 day programmable. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Teken Posted January 26, 2020 Posted January 26, 2020 I have five of the 1800 / 1900 TSTAT’s in my home right now. As others mentioned this unit will require the Insteon adapter. Going off rough memory the 1700 / 1800 do not come with the humidity sensor like the 1900. ? I had to purchase 8~10 of them many years ago from a eBay seller. None of these TSTAT’s are connected to my furnace though due to an abundance of caution as there were issues in very specific versions in the Insteon adapters. Before the advent of all low power battery sensors hitting the market which could directly integrate with ISY / Insteon. This was one of the only ways to obtain temp / humidity into the system. ? I have all of mine connected to a DLI remote web switch which is called to action twice a day via the ISY. Once the TSTAT acclimates and stabilizes a custom email fires off the current temp / humidity for that specific area, floor, zone, then turns off to reduce energy consumption. ? The T-1800 is a solid unit without any bells & whistles.
Brian H Posted January 26, 2020 Posted January 26, 2020 The 1700 didn't have the connector in it for the optional humidity module and some had a issue since Venstar didn't put the capacitor across the open connector signal pins. The fix was putting a short across the signals pins. I believe Venstar did a engineering change to fix the issue. The 1800 had the needed connector and you could buy the humidity module as an accessory.

I’m looking at getting an older used T1800 to replace my Insteon 2441th. I've been using one of there for years. PROS: It's functioned well for me, now in a 2nd home. Though it is a 7-day programmable tstat, I've NEVER used that feature as my ISY & Security system triggers are used to set the temp. CONS: The clock on it has never seemed very accurate, displayed numbers are a small font and I disliked the backlight feature that eventually quit working entirely a few years ago. As noted in this thread, it does require the RF plug in Insteon adapter to communicate to the ISY (through a 2412S PLM or Access point). Also, if you want it to display humidity you'll need an addon for that (I've never had one). Bottom line is I do like SmartHome's newer tstat better. Fonts are bigger, easier to read, it's Insteon ready, reports humidity and it has a backlight button!
dgirman Posted February 13, 2020 Posted February 13, 2020 I have a venstar colortouch working with nodeserver and isy. I can query the venstar via isy. Works all the time. The issue I do have is setting the temperature from the isy. There are the standard up/down isy commands, but the nodeserver/venstar do no change the Venstar temp. I created a simple python script to verify venstar is responding to query and set/control commands, and it does with no issue; can change temp, etc via a simple python script. Any ideas/help how to resolve the isy control will be great. RaspPi is running nodeserver.
Michel Kohanim Posted February 15, 2020 Posted February 15, 2020 @dgirman, I think you will get much better response if you post to: https://forum.universal-devices.com/forum/113-nodelink/ With kind regards, Michel
