I have some lights plugged into my outdoor insteon plug and throughout the day the lights will just turn on without being asked to or turned via the software.  How can i fix this or chase down what is causing it?  I did plug in something new and i did put a noise filter on it.

Turn the unit off - unplug it - wait five seconds. Does the unit remain in the off state? Turn the unit on - unplug it - wait five seconds. Does the unit come back in the on state? Just for rogue programs in the AC along with the level 3 error logs to see what action was taken during those time frames. Lastly, what is the new load that is attached and what happens when you remove this new load??

Are you speaking of an Insteon 2634 or some other device?   and as @Teken mentions are these ON events showing up in the ISY Level 3 event log?

That is correct it is an Insteon 2634.

So what happens when you complete the two tests outlined above?

Ok, so when the unit is off and i unplug it and wait for 5 secs and plug it back in, it stays off, and it comes back on when i do the other test.  The new load is my Direct Tv power supply, so i really can't unplug it.

If it's for the genie or the dish, neither should be plugged into it.

Try a lamp for testing. Does your lights turn on and off at specific moments such as 5pm every time

Just to be clear what is all plugged into this outdoor switch? Can you show us a picture as to how its all plugged into the Insteon outlet. What kind of lights are these that are attached to the switch. On the back of the unit is a hardware production date tell us all of the numbers along with the revision and what firmware the ISY says it has.

I think i got the concept of the new item after re-reading the first post.  For clarity tho, The DirecTv power supply is just a new item in the home, not something controlled by the 2634?

The next troubleshooting steps I'd take if this were my problem:  First I would use the 'find' feature on the programs tab to double check this isn't for some reason included in a program.  Right click the folder "my programs" at the top of the program tree on the program tab and use the 'find' feature to look for errant program entries.

Assuming it's still unsolved, I would then use Tools > Diagnostics > Show device links table, after then links table is done generating then I would press the 'compare' button.   If difference are found you might screen shot and post.

Lastly I would reset factory default on the device.  Next to last page of this PDF.   After factory restore you will want to select the device in the ISY device tree, right click it and pick 'Restore Device'.

@MrBill You are correct in your summation.  There are no programs associated with the device, and the device links were identical.  I just now did a factory reset and restore.  We shall see if that fixes it.

This device is plugged into an outdoor plug and controls some LED lights.  This issue just started happening recently and there were no issues previously.  i will get the other information asked for, here in a bit.

Thank you all for you insight and trying to help me fix this issue.

Delete it from the isy and factory reset it. Leave it alone for a day. If it doesn't turn on by itself then there is something else within your scenes or programs doing it

I agree with lilyoyo1....  it sounds like a bad device.   delete it from the ISY, factory reset it again, Don't add it back to the ISY yet, but wait it see if it turns on on its own.  If it's bad don't forget it has a 2 year warranty.

Well, I this takes it out of the possible *All On* realm of possibility. ? As noted by @lilyoyo1 once you delete the hardware and hard reset the device. I would actually go one further step. Do not add it back once its been deleted and hard reset and see if the switch comes back on.

It could very well be a bad outlet . . .

Everything would've turned on with the all on.

That would assume the home had all pre 2013 hardware in place vs a mixture of new vs old. ?

True. But even then other devices would've done it (older devices)

Stop agreeing with me it’s my ball and you can’t have it back!

You started all this. I need to find some old threads and restart them so we can argue again

So the light came on even after removing it from the ISY and doing a factory reset.  Bad device.  I appreciate the help in troubleshooting this issue. That's what make this the best forum out there!

The manual says it has Local Control.  Normally if the module is Off. Toggling the loads built in switch from On to Off and back On. The module will turn back On with out you needing an Insteon command to turn it On.

Some LED light bulbs and other loads can falsely trigger some Local Controls. Did you get random changes with a standard light bulb. Any noise makers on the same circuit?
