What have you done??

There is a zwave guidance doc somewhere on here.  Did you follow any methods in that?

What firmware are you running? Zwave version? Internal or external?

Have you attempted to unpair it?

My ISY isn't seeing any zwave devices or letting me add them to my controller anymore...Any suggestions on how to fix this?

What's your ISY firmware and UI version?

Do you have the 300 or the 500 series Zwave board in your ISY?

I have, and tried resetting zwave from the ISY admin console.

How do i check the zwave version firmware?  It's internal, how do i add an external zwave antenna to my isy994?

Zwave-Zwave Version : If 4.55 then you have Zwave 300 dongle; if 6.8 then you have 500 dongle

I am not sure that an external  antenna would be the solution. Zwave is a mesh network and the more (non-battery powered) Zwave devices you have, the better. Depending on the wall in your home, I would suggest to have a Zwave device at least every 15-20 ft.

Turns out I have version 4.55.  Is it worth it/possible to upgrade the dongle to zwave 500?

From what I have read, 5.3 may not work with the 300 dongle.  You should order the 500 dongle and replace it inside the ISY. It is not difficult and if I was able to do it, then everybody can do it :-)

The 300 series zwave dongle is not compatible with ISY 5.3.0 firmware. . You'll need to purchase and install the 500 series dongle

You can buy it here:   https://www.universal-devices.com/product/z-wave-module/

What about if i only have firmware 5.0.16? Should i upgrade to 5.3?

Yes, 5.3.0 is the final official release. Read the release notes before you update.

5.0.16 should work with the 300 dongle, but it is recommended that you upgrade to the 500 dongle and 5.3  .

I have the same issue. - obviously I didnt read the instructions on 5.3 and went ahead and updated with the 300 dongle. - and thought I fried it as when I restored back to 5.15a I could not add my Z wave devices back. - I thought the solution was to buy a new ISY with a 500 board, but even with that (now upgraded to 5.3) I have been able to add only 1 Z wave device. - the rest simply don't register. - (and given that I was able to add 1, I know the board is working. - I tried the reset, the syncronize nodes, the restore PLM etc. - I even moved my ISY downstairs 5 ft from the next outlet I want to add (away far from the wifi router that I thought might be interfering), to see if it made a difference, but I hit the "add a z wave device" it says "listeninng for z-wave devices to add to the network", I hit the button on the switch and... nada... nothing happens. - Im going out of my mind here, any advice would be very much appreciated.

Had this problem as well.  Here's the thread with what worked for me.  The 500 board doesn't have the antenna that was on the 300 board.  As you'll see, I had to get devices very close to add them.  Once I had a few added, things went better.

The Zwave dongle does not support an external antenna, and has an effective range of about 25 feet depending on walls etc.

To get the best coverage you should install a zwave repeater / extender such as this one within about 25 feet of your ISY.

Installing an extender/repeater will help with range, as previously mentioned. Hover, if you are having difficulty adding zwave devices, make sure you exclude the device at least twice before you try adding it to your network. It also helps to have the device within 3 feet of the ISY when adding.

@keepersg Thank you very much, it was mostly a question of removing the devices first. - A couple of door locks had to be moved closer to the Isy for the "adding secure device" to work, but other than that it was patiently removing the device once or twice and then adding it back in.
