Guest Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 I have some devices that show no links, yet they do have existing links that work but for some reason are not shown in the ISY console. Is there any way to have ISY "rescan" the device for links? I am getting ready to do a "Restore Devices" but want to salvage any links I can from some of these devices to save on reprogramming. Thanks
Michel Kohanim Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 Hi oktane, Unfortunately there's no way to rescan the device since ISY always assume the master configuration to have been stored in ISY. This makes synchronization much easier. With kind regards, Michel I have some devices that show no links, yet they do have existing links that work but for some reason are not shown in the ISY console. Guest Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 If I remove the device, which ISY believes has no scene membership, and then re-add the device, will that work? If the ISY is unaware of scenes, it shouldn't delete them from the device when I "Remove Device", correct?
Michel Kohanim Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 Hi Oktane, ... If the ISY is unaware of scenes, it shouldn't delete them from the device when I "Remove Device", correct? Correct. But, when you add back, and if you want those links, you have to make sure you use the 3rd option. And here comes the risk: if the link is 1/2 or orphaned, then the scenes created by ISY might not actually reflect reality (as much as ISY tries to reconstruct the other half based on what it thinks the other half should be). In most cases, the best configuration is the one that you actually know what you want the function to be and then use ISY to create it. With kind regards, Michel
