Mail server failure

Ever since moving from 4.7.3 to 5.0.16C every time I start the admin console I receive an error message that says "Mail Server Error".  For 7 years I have used the default SMTP settings and have a group that would send via e-mail a text message to an Android device.  Was amazingly fast when it worked, but now I receive no notifications from programs.  Test message works flawlessly and immediately.

Any assistance in resolving this would be appreciated.

Thank You

The test message you refer to is that an email or a text ?

If the test text message is working then the problem is most likely in your program(s)

The test message is an e-mail sent to a text address.  The programs with notifications have been working for years and the only thing that has changed is the versions and the "mail server error".     I only have 1 e-mail message and one destination.  Not sure how that could be wrong in a program.

@GTCJ, Something could have changed with the default mail server when they had issues recently. Maybe open a ticket with UDI to see if they can help make sure things are properly sorted out with your process and their default mail server. If just sending 1 email why not use g-mail for sending?

Mine has worked flawlessly for years, but when I started researching this I see a lot of encouragement to using gmail account.  I have so many email accounts now to keep track of I hate to add another, but perhaps that's the way to go.  Thanks for the assistance.
