Another I/O Linc odd occurrence

I have a new I/O Linc rev v.36 which is behaving strangely I think!

The sensor is linked to 2 separate kpl buttons. The sensor is a controller and the kpl’s are responders.

The relay is not in a scene with anything. Although I did try it in a scene and it didn’t make any difference on the outcome.

The only option box checked for the I/O Linc is the LED on Tx .

When the scene the sensor in is turned on by the isy either by the admin console or a program which runs the scene, the relay for that I/O linc turns on. When the scene is turned off the relay turns off.

If the Momentary A box is checked then the I/O Linc with turn on momentarily then off when the scene is turned on. When the scene is turned off the relay doesn’t engage. Only when the scene is turned on.

The other thing I noticed is option Momentary: Both doesn’t work if Momentary A is not checked, and then the relay only engages when the scene is turned on not off. So it doesn’t appear that Momentary: Both has any affect on the relay.

I have removed and reset the device 3 times during all of this with no change.

Any suggestions are welcome, and if these problems have been covered elsewhere I apologize but I haven’t found the posts yet.

Thanks again,

Tim

Hi Michel,

Sorry, but I need a little more clarification. Are you saying that if the sensor of the I/O Linc (which is a controller of a scene) and two KPL's, say button D on each (which are responders in the same scene) are turned on by the admin console or one of the KPL buttons are pressed that the relay is supposed to engage either momentarily or continuous depending on the option setting?

So if that is the case and it is not acceptable for the particular situation the solution would be to have the sensor outside of that scene but monitored by a program which then controls the KPL’s?

Sorry for being dense but I just want to make sure I understand correctly.

Thanks,

Tim

Hi Tim,

You are asking all the right questions and thus don't worry about asking.

Here's the main issue: consider a SwichLinc (which as one button) and now try to divide it into two functions: sometimes it acts as a sensor (controller only) and sometimes as a responder (only). So, unlike SWL, IOLinc can either be a controller only or responder only. As such, we decided to represent it into two nodes.

So, what we have to do (UDI) is to consider the sensor node something like a RemoteLinc (controller only) and then figure how to make the code work to achieve the desired results.

I cannot guarantee if we'll be successful but there's a good chance we'll have this in the final release of 2.7.7 (the alpha is already out).

With kind regards,

Michel

Hi Tim,

I was just notified that this feature will indeed be included in the next drop. The only issue will be that you will have to remove your IOLincs from ISY and add them back in. As such, would you be kind enough not to make drastic changes? Hopefully the next 2.7.7 release will be available within a week.

With kind regards,

Michel

Ok. So for now I will have the sensor fire a program to drive the kpl buttons. It seems to work fine that way, just a 1 or 2 second delay on the kpl button responses.

Thank you Michel,

Tim
