I'm just getting started with my new ISY Pro+ with Z-wave and for starters added a plug in dimmer, created a scene, scheduled the scene etc. and so far so good.

Currently, I have about 60 devices on another controller (alarm.com module). My plan is to get things working in the ISY and then gradually migrate things over.

I noticed when adding the first device to the ISY that the range was quite poor, and I had to bring the plug in module to the same room in order to get it to find it and add it.

Question: Will adding more devices improve the range due to the additional devices repeating the signal? Or, do I need to get a range extender? It's not a problem for plug in devices, but I have a bunch of wall switches where it would be much harder to get the controller close to them.

thanks!

That depends on if your devices are zwave plus devices and support network wide inclusion. If they do, you may be able to add devices from their current location starting with the closest and working your way out. If not.... You'll have to bring them closer.

Okay thanks. I think some are the older ones and some are Z-wave plus. Not sure about NWI. I'll experiment with it.

If it turns out that a range extender/repeater makes sense, is there a particular brand/model that is preferred?
