I upgraded my old ISY to a new ISY994i ZW+/IRPro. Backed up my old one first and then restored backup to my new ISY. Most seems to work OK except a few things.

A few of the switches have a little green icon beside it. I have tried write updates and restore devices but still have the icon. I can still control those devices from the admin consoles however sometimes I get a pop up error saying communication failed with device. Even though changes went true.

I have 4-8 button keypad switch. 2 that work fine. The other 2 aren't working in HomeSeer. When I physicaly press a button it triggers associated event, however the log in the ISY is not showing any activity. When sending command from admin console it shows up in the log. HomeSeer reads info from ISY and since it's not reporting button presses, HomeSeer doesn't see it either. These particular keypads don't have the little green icons beside it.

Make sure your firmware and UI are the same version number.

Did you also upgrade your firmware to the current version?

Actually there is 5.3.3 which is a test firmware, but I use it and it very safe. Also make sure to follow the instructions above very carefully step by step.

So if 5.3 is the official release shouldn't it work?

Yes, absolutely !!!!!  I suggested 5.3.0 because it is the latest official version, even though I am myself on 5.3.3.

The point is to make sure that you follow the step by step instructions (incl clearing java, download the right launcher, etc). If that does not do the job, then create a ticket with UDI support. They are superb in resolving issues.

I'm not able to download the file. I click the link and nothing happens. But I don't see the need to upgrade to 5.3.3 to soleve my issue. If 5.3 is the official release I assume my problem is something else.

You have 5.3 but your UI doesn't match. Either you haven't cleaned your Java cache, you're using the wrong launcher, or both

You DON'T need to go to 5.3.3  Just follow the instructions of 5.3.0 and look what @lilyoyo1 suggested.

Ah OK. Followed instruction and looks like I'm matching now. It did resolve the issue on one keypad but not the other. And the 2 switches that had the green icons are still there sending command from admin console still works sometimes. Other times it won't and the green icon turns into red "!". Does this mean 2 faulty switches and 1 faulty keypad?

Not necessarily. Subsequent releases generally contain bug fixes that may be present in earlier versions....Official or not.

No it does not. could be poor communication or something else. Factory reset the device, then from the admin console, right click on the device and choose restore device and write updates.

It’s a bit conservative and you appear to have made progress but I would install the version of firmware you had on the old ISY on the new ISY and restore your backup. Once that is sorted out and all is working pick your next version and upgrade.

The old ISY is like 20 years old and the firmware on it is no longer supported so not sure it's a good idea or if I could even find that firmware. Will factory reset devices as @lilyoyo1 suggested above and see what happens.

I factory reset both devices and still same issue. Now discovering additional devices that I can control locally or with the console, however when controlling it locally the status doesn't update in the console. Upgraded ISY because everyone kept telling any issues I was having was because of old firmware. I'm having more issues with this new one that I ever had with the old one. Good thing I still have it. Might have to downgrade back to the old one.

Just to be clear, it wasn't just old firmware, you had ISY-99 hardware that's been deprecated for years.

I'm not surprised you're having issues with restoring a backup from firmware that old.

If you haven't already, you should open a ticket by emailing support@universal-devices.com I'm quite certain they will help you get it set up correctly.

What's your current Firmware and UI. Click on help about for that info.

What version of the ISY do you now have?

Did you EXACTLY follow the upgrade instructions below when you updated your firmware

Release 5.3.3 Test Build is now available - Current Release, Betas, and Bug Reports - Universal Devices Forum (universal-devices.com)

Old hardware that worked better than the new ?. I will contact support. Hopefully they can figure out the issue.

It sounds like you're experiencing a cockpit problem rather than a hardware issue.

The firmware upgrade from 3.3.1 to to 5.3.0 is more involved than updating from newer versions. It's important that you read and follow the update instructions exactly.

The 5.3.3 firmware is problem free. A lot of us have been running it without any issues.

I didn't really upgrade the firmware. It was already on the ISY when I bought it. Before buying it I contacted sales and they sent me this link https://wiki.universal-devices.com/index.php?title=ISY-994i_Series:Migrating_To_Your_ISY-994i . This is how I did the migration. I will try 5.3.3 to see what happens.

I would suggest working out your bugs before you do a firmware upgrade.

The fact that you're unable to write updates to your devices suggests a possible communication issue. Remove power from the "ISY and the PLM, wait about 30 seconds then power up the PLM. Wait another 15 seconds then power up the ISY. Then try writing updates to one of your hardwired devices.

Let me know what happens, also let me know if you get any error messages.

Something definitely wrong. Unplugged both, waited. Plugged PLM, waited plugged ISY. Opened console and now every devices has red "!" beside it. Restarted everything and still all red "!". I still have backup from my old ISY and this one that I did a few hours ago. Should I restore backup or is there something else I can try?
