Good afternoon.

So, I recently upgraded to the newest Z-wave Dongle in the ISY and updated the ISY to 5.3.0.

Since I'm adding a lot of AeoTec MultiSensors and they latest rev is V1.14, I figured I'll upgrade the existing ones too and do a reset of the Z-wave Dongle.

ISY at present doesn't allow OTA firmware upgrades to Z-wave, so I have to use the Z-wave Stick by AeoTec for this.

@lilyoyo1 suggested that I add the AeoTec stick as a secondary controller to the ISY dongle, so I don't have to repeat the remove/add process on the ISY after doing it on the Stick. According to AeoTec this secondary controller process should be controlled by ISY

I cannot find anything relating to adding or shifting to primary/secondary controller in the Z-wave menus of the ISY. The ISY manual shows them on the first drop down menu, but they're not in 5.3.0.

Can anyone help me with this, please?

I don't want to do a reset, just to find out that this is not an option.

Thanks

I’m with you on this one and I’m in the exact same position. It seems that UDI has lost some stuff with their new dongle.

So I managed to add the Z-Stick to the ISY as a secondary controller.

If you haven't already done so, you will need Zensys Tools. You can get it from the link at the bottom of this page:

https://aeotec.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/6000226205

Now follow the steps on this page:

https://www.activeautomation.co.nz/boards/topic/3/adding-aeotec-z-stick-as-a-second-controller-to-an-existing-z-wave-network

When the Zensys Tools page comes up, the right side panel is the NODE panel. But there was NO title on it. There are two icons on that right panel, the lightning bolt and the X. X resets the Z-Stick. The lightning bolt puts the Z-Stick in learn mode. I've added the Z-Stick several times. If I DELETE the Z-Stick from the ISY,  the only way I can remove the links from the ISY in the left panel of the Zensys Tools panel is to click the X button which resets the Z-Stick, removing the links.

So ...

1. Z Tools: Click the lightning bolt. It will bring up a panel saying the controller is working in learning mode. (Maybe have to click twice if the panel does not come up).

2. ISY: Z-Wave Add device (to the Z-wane network).

Now watch the ISY's 'add Z-Wave device info panel'; it should add the Z-Stick. The LEFT Zensys Tools panel should now show all of your Z-Wave devices and their link numbers that are in the ISY.

I haven't taken the next step though ... to upgrade the MultiSensor 6's firmware. Not really sure what I do next as the MS's are members of the ISY device ...

So ... if you delete the Z-Stick from the ISY, all I could do to remove it is right click on the z-wave controller and select delete. In the Zensys Tools window, all I could do to remove the 'ISY' links was select the X to reset the Z-Stick.

A question for you: does resetting the Z-Wave dongle in the ISY reset all the node numbers? Or do you have to reset the whole ISY to accomplish this?

Hello Broyd;

Wow, lots of work. Thanks for that.

I ended up bringing the ISY out of the IT closet and next to my desk, reset the Z-Wave dongle and added the new set of MultiSensors in one go. Then swapped the newly assigned ones with the ones in the ceiling. After that, I upgraded the firmware of the MS's to V1.14 and continued adding them to the ISY. These will go to the new locations. That way I only had to climb and move the ladder once...

To answer your question: I was able to reset ISY's Zwave dongle only, by Z-Wave->Advanced->Factory Reset Z-Wave Dongle. It reset all the node numbers, deleted the references in the various programs and replaced them with relevant Notes, so you can recreate the conditional statements with the new node numbers.

Cheers;
