dpritt Posted December 8, 2009 Posted December 8, 2009 Hi, This has been driving me mad, so I would be grateful for some help. I have an ISY99i Pro running V2.7.6. It communicates OK across the internet and time gets updated from us.pool.ntp.org, so DNS etc. works. I use Verizon FiOS, and have a verizon.net account which still uses port 25, so I have set up a couple of special email sub-accounts, one for my CCTV system and one for the ISY, the CCTV one works, and I have tested both using Outlook Distress and Thunderbird email clients. However, no matter what I try I can not get the ISY to send emails. The message I get back from the Telnet session is -50001, and -14, which your notes tell me is an SMTP Server Failure, with a sub-error of SMTP_AUTH_LOGIN_NOT_ACCEPTED. Verizon does require an ID and Password to send emails to try to stop spammers, but it looks like the ISY is not sending it in teh way Verizon expect. As Verison block the normal SMTP Ports I can not use another SMTP service. Anyone managed to get an ISY working with Verizon FiOS? Regards Dave P
brad77 Posted December 8, 2009 Posted December 8, 2009 Have you been able to verify that the credentials you're providing work in a different email client? Try setting up a test account in Outlook or Mail and plugging in the information you have and sending a few test messages. Sometimes servers only require the username part of the email address, while others may require the whole address. Testing in a mail client can help you sort out which you need to provide.
Michel Kohanim Posted December 8, 2009 Posted December 8, 2009 Hi davep, Please increase the timeout. Also, in the next release 2.7.7, we have added provisions to allow multiple emails to be sent. If you are not on our alpha 2.7.7 list, please send an email to support@universal-devices.com to be included. With kind regards, Michel
dpritt Posted December 10, 2009 Author Posted December 10, 2009 I can use the ID and Password in a normal SMTP client like Thunderbird, so there is nothing wrong with he authentication procedure as far as Verizon is concerned. It works with other devices I have in the home, such as my CCTV system, but not with the ISY. I will send an email and have a try with the 2.7.7 version and let you know if that cures it. Regards Dave
dgruehn Posted May 8, 2010 Posted May 8, 2010 Ever figure this out? I have the same issue. I tried using ISY's alert account with gmail and it worked which leads me to believe it is a Verizon setting issue. But i've checked 25 times and they look correct: smtp server: outgoing.verizon.net SMTP Port: 25 user id: dwgtx password: ********* Timeout 10,000 Use TLS (tired both on / off)
Brian H Posted May 8, 2010 Posted May 8, 2010 Some one in the Cocoontec forums got an email that indicated Verizon was changing things. Not sure if yours is effected. http://www.cocoontech.com/forums/index. ... opic=16446
Michel Kohanim Posted May 9, 2010 Posted May 9, 2010 Hi guys, This was an issue with the ActionTec routers not accepting varying TCP window sizes. We put a workaround in firmware 2.7.12 to address this deficiency in ActionTec routers. If you do not have 2.7.15 installed, please do install it. With kind regards, Michel
