Ecobee Server and making changes...

Hi again. So I have the Ecobee server and its reporting wonderfully and accurately, but I (or more appropriately my ISY) attempts to make a change, it just says system busy for a moment and then just resets the (in this case) mode to whatever it was previous to the change.

Is this a known thing, meaning is this NodeServer more for monitoring, or is is supposed to update the devices and mine is in need of coooorrrection?

Thanks

What specifically are you doing? Which ecobee nodeserver and what's your firmware and UI?

Hi, Thanks!,

I am using Insteon_UD994 V5.0.16b, ITs an IR Pro with Z-wave, and a Polisy Pro thats says "Version 2.2.13 and Frontend Version 2.2.9-5"

The Ecobee node server is the one in the store.... I have not graduated to installing things through local means (I am still working on making fire with rocks and sticks comparatively to that.

Hope that helps.

As far as what Ia m doing, its the same with everything. I was specifically just trying to change the mode from heat to off, but after a moment of "system busy" it just set the mode back to heat and never changed the node at all. The same ended up being the case for any other change I tried (i.e change temp setting, ect...) I dumped the node server and rebooted everything and reinstalled the node server and it was the same. I am not great with the programming (sulu, terminal) stuff so thats the extent I was able to trouble shoot. And then I thought "I wonder if its more for triggers rather than being manipulatable itself, and that is useful enough hat  its possible... so maybe I should ask before fumbling around with it."

Thanks for the response.

There are 2 stores. One is for cloud based nodeservers and the other is for local options such as polisy and Rpi users. Since you said you haven't installed anything locally I assume you're using the cloud based one. I don't use that so I can't say definitively what you can do with that one. I assume the capabilities of both are the same though.

What you see in the admin console cannot be manipulated. You need to either use programs or scenes

Thank you sooo much. The programs and scenes did it! Thank you! I was confused because the options boxes behaved like so many other things that would update right there.

But you open a very intriguing door for me...

I might have not explained myself very well, I tend to have that issue... I dont know how to pull apart what you said as far as the Cloud vs Local. I have a Polisy, and I have downloaded a number of node servers from the store that is (Or that I perceive to be) on a cloud. Then (as far as I understand) they are installed locally on my actual polisy. So maybe that store is the cloud version, or maybe its local version, but I couldn't tell from your explanation which one I am using because I am just not 100% "up on the lingo."

I CAN say that I have access (as far as I know) to one store, through my Polisy, that has about 112 node servers I can choose and install without knowing any code (which is lucky because I know fairly little) so am I asking a much more complicated question when I ask "so how to I get into the "local options" or the "other store?" I mean, If there are more Ecobee node servers, and I have the needed hardware between my Polisy and ISY, then unlocking the achievement of a different NodeServer store sounds like a win!

I appreciate your time very much.

There are currently multiple versions of Polyglot and multiple versions of the node server store.  Regardless of the version, the node servers are installed from the "cloud".

Typically, when someone refers to the Polyglot in the cloud, they are not talking about the node servers, but rather the version of Polyglot that runs directly from the "cloud" vs. a version of Polyglot that runs on local hardware (Polisy or RPi).

If you're installing node servers on a Polisy running Polyglot, then you are running the node servers locally.

Because the "cloud" version of Polyglot and the Polisy version of Polyglot are different, they use different node server stores and they can run different versions of the node server.  So an Ecobee node server installed and running from the "cloud" can be different from the Ecobee node server installed and running locally on a Polisy.   And that makes a difference when answering questions/supporting the node server.

Hopefully, this explanation helps clear that up.
